"Sirius, Dumbledore said no!" Lyra hissed as she watched her brother turn into a big black dog.

He barked at her, his grey eyes sparkling with the mischeif that she thought had forever disappeared. Lyra sighed at him, knowing that no matter anyone said; Sirius was going.

"Okay, but if Dumbledore tries to pin the blame on someone; I'm not going to be that person!" I called after Sirius as he rushed towards the hallway, where everyone else was leaving to go escort the kids to Platform Nine and Three Quarters. "Insufferable." I muttered with a grin on my face.

I walked into the hallway to see Lynx and Will arguing. Will seemed to be winning.

"I can call your owl anything I want!" Lynx was yelling. "And I want to call him Purgatory!"

"Mum gave him to me!" Will growled, looking so angry that Lyra was surpirsed that Lynx didn't cower away. Lyra knew the look WIll was giving her, it was known at the 'Black Look'. It was used to intimidate people, warn them that they were about to attack. "And I don't want that to be his name!"

"It doesn't have to be his name, you prat!" Lynx shouted back, her face contorted with rage. Lyra knew that look also, it was the 'Blue Look'. It was the look that made many weak in the knees. It had enough fury and sadness that it made people bend to their will, because it was as though they were a tortured angel - so beautiful, so sad. "It's just what I want to call him!"

"He'll start to think it's his name!" Will said, not affected by the look. "So stop it!"

"You're being unreasonable!" Lynx said. "Ginny got to name Pig!"

"I'm not Ron," Will seethed. "I am not going to allow my owl to be laughed at by the whole population of the school!"

"OY!" Ron shouted, he had been watching the fight. "Pig was never laughed at."

"He was laughed at by me," Will huffed, crossing his arms. He looked down at his sister and glared at her. "I've already named my owl, now let him be, Lynx."

Lynx signed, the corners of her lips trembling and her brown eyes wide. It was a look that would make anyone drop to their knees and beg for forgiveness, but WIll was used to that look.

"I said no," Will huffed and strode away from his sister, who was screaming at him.

"AURGH! YOU'RE SO SELFISH! PURGATORY IS A BEAUTIFUL NAME AND YOU'RE TOO STUPID TO SEE IT!" Lynx took off her shoe and was about to throw it at him but Lyra caught her wrist.

"It's his owl, Lynx," Lyra said sternly. "And don't throw things at your brother."

Lynx stuffed her foot in her shoe and glared at Lyra. "Why can't I have a pet, huh? Why do you always give the good things to Will?"

"What have I ever gave Will that you didn't have? Besides a pet, I mean," Lyra said defiantly.

Lynx, who couldn't think of anything, crossed her arms and stared down at her feet.

"And I think Purgatory is a very pretty name," Lyra said with a smile. "I was going to name you that, you know."

Lynx's head snapped up in horror. "What? Why? That's a hiddeius name."

Lyra quirked an eyebrow at her. "I was lying. Why did you want to name Will's owl that name, anyway?"

Lynx shrugged. "I don't know. . . I was jealous, I guess. Why can't I have an owl?"

"If you wanted an owl, why didn't you just ask," Lyra said tiredly.

Lynx shrugged again, giving me puppy dog eyes. "Will you get me a pet? Not a cat."

"You wound me," Lyra said, though she was smiling. "Fine. No more picking fights with your brother, okay?"

"No promises," Lynx said, then wooped and ran over to Ginny.

Lyra was convinced, her daughter was weird.
