"We're going to Apparate! We're going to Apparate! We're going to. . . APPARATE!" Alice and Mary were jumping around the dormitory a month later singing at the top of their lungs horribly.
"Shut up!" Marlene laughted, tugging on her coat. "You two are the worst bloody singers I've ever heard."
"What do you have your coat on for?" Lyra asked, thankful that Marlene had gotten the two to quiet down.
"We're going to take the test in Hogsmeade," Lily said, tugging her coat on too. "Honestly, Lyra. Don't you ever read the notice board?"
"Not if I can help it," Lyra shrugged.
"What if you have an unsuspecting Quidditch practice?" Marlene asked.
"Then Prongs would tell me," Lyra shrugged. "He knows I never read the board."
"Why don't you read?" Alice asked. "You get O's on all your test but you never study - I just don't see how you occomplish it."
"I don't need to study because I already know all that stuff." Lyra said. "Why do I need to study what I already know."
"Yes but HOW do you know it?" ALice asked desperatly. "I study and I still don't know half the things the teachers tell me."
"i don't know. . ." Lyra shrugged. "Instinct?"
"You are the strangest thing," Mary told Lyra.
Lyra scowled at Mary and turned to the other girls. "Are you ready?"
"Yes," All of the girls minus Mary said.
"Mary?" Lily asked.
"I'm ready," Mary said brightly.
"Then why didn't you say so?"
"No one asked me if I was ready," Mary looked pointedly at Lyra before strutting out of the room, leaving the girls to follow her reluctantly.
"Honestly, why are you frineds with her?" Lyra grumbled. "She needs to get her head out of her-"
"Lyra!" Lily chastised.
"We're friends with her because. . . "Alice trailed off. "Well. . . because she's our friend. She might be cold on the outside but to her friends she is true."
"Well, I guess I'm not her friend." Lyra said, not at all bothered by it.
"You're not," the girls replied.
"Oh yes, that's nice," Mary said, waiting at the bottom of the steps and tapping her foot. "Talk about me behind my back."
"It's not like we said anything bad," Lyra said, rolling her eyes.
"Better not be," Mary said cooly before turning and stomping out of the room.
"Was that a threat?" Lyra demanded to the girls.
"No! Well. . . yes, but-" Lily said.,
"How dare she threaten me!" Lyra roared. "I could squash her like the little bug she is!"
"Don't!" Lily pleaded. "I don't want you two to fight eachother again!"
Lyra scoffed. " We argued with eachother, yes, but we never actually fought, Lily."
"It's the same thing in my book," Lily said.
"Not in mine," Lyra said defiantly.
"Just please, Lyra. . .don't," Lily said.
Lyra glared at Lily before huffing and stomping away from the girls just like Mary had.
"For two girls that hate eachother they sure are alot alike," Alice noted.
"What?" Marlene looked shocked. "They are ntohing alike!"
"Well, sure Mary is a bit perky and Lyra is a bit mysterious but they both have that same temper and witty comebacks," ALice said. She and the girls wlaked out of the common room. "Not to mention that they are both gaurded."
"What do you mean?" Marlene asked.
"I mean that they are really only nice to their friends," Alice explained. "And they don't really talk to anyone else."
"You know. . .I do see the simalarities now," :Lily nodded. "No wonder they both hate eachother. I would hate it if someone exactly like me came barging in everywhere."
"Yeah, and steal James from you," Alice teased.
Marlene erupted into laughter while Lily blushed furiously.
"Shut up, you prat."
