Cormac and Lyra didn't end up getting a carrage alone, they had to share one with Xenophilius Lovegood who looked as though he hardly noticed the two, but the two were highly aware of his presence, and they weren't happy about it.

"That was the most awkward carrage ride I ever had," Cormac said when they watched Xenophilius wonder down the road all by himself, examining things around him and muttering to himself.

"You can say that again," Lyra said, shaking her had at the blonde ravenclaw boy who was considered a loon to everyone at school. "So where do you want to go?"

"Would you like to go to Madame Puddifoots?" Cormac asked, walking down the road with her and pointing to a small teashop that looked warm and cozy.

"Sure," Lyra said, though her insides freezed up. She wouldn't be caught dead in that tea shop, but what choice did she have? Cormac looked so eager and cute to take her there, and she couldn't resist his charming smile.

He led her to the small shop and from the corner of her eyes, she could see Lily, Alice, Marlene, and Mary watching them casually from outside the Three Broomsticks. She was never going to hear the end of this.

When she and Cormac entered, Lyra visibly shivered at what she saw. The walls were painted pink with dark red hearts, the tables had dark red tablecloths with small pink teacups and Madame Puddifoot was dressed in the most pink and frilly outfit Lyra had ever witnissed.

"It's lovely," Lyra said weakly. She wondered why Cormac would ever want to taker her here.

"Isn't it?" Cormac agreed, not noticing his date's obvious disgust. He led her over to an empty table in the back.

Lyra sat timidly in the booth and watched Cormac slide in the booth across from her. Lyra smiled nervously and wished her hair was down so she could tuck a strand behind her ear, or possibly lean back to it fell gracefully in front of her face and he wouldn't see her stare at him with wide, doe-like eyes.

"Would you two like anything?" Madame Puddifoot asked, setting down a tray of crumpets and looking cheerfully at the two.

"Tea," Lyra said, not sure what else was here.

"Two, teas," Cormac said.

Madame Puddifoot nodded happily and scuffled away to the kitchen, where they could hear her bustling around to make them their order.

Lyra took the chance to glance around the shop and was shocked to find everyone there was a couple, and they were all snogging eachother - it looked more like they were trying to eat eachothers faces. Lyra blushed, embarrassed at having witnessed so many moments that were supposed to be private. She couldn't believe people who ever snog in public.

"So what are your interests?" Cormac asked, looking truthfully curious.

"I like Quidditch," Lyra said sheepishly. "I never tried out though."

"Are you good?" Cormac asked, glad that their conversation turned to Quidditch.

"I guess I am," Lyra said sheepishly. "At least Ja - the QUidditch captain said I should try out."

Lyra doubted that it would be good to mention her best friend on a date with a boy, who knows what he might think.

"I wish you would try out," Cormac said. "We could play together sometime."

They were in deep conversation, and Lyra ompletely forgot about the ugly decorations around her and the lip-locked couples surrounding them. They were there the whole Hogsmeade trip, talking about to many things.

Lyra was starting to like Cormac even more then she already did, and she wasn't aware that it was even possible.

Lyra stopped talking when she realised Cormac wasn' listening anymore. She followed his line of sight and saw out the window. Mary and her Hufflepuff boyfriend, Micheal Hodge, were staying a few feet away from the window, and they were standing dreadfully close to one another.

Lyra saw Mary glance at Lyra and Cormac for a moment, and she searched between the two. Before Lyra could wonder why Cormac and Mary were gazing at eachother like that, Lyra was pulled forward so that she and Cormac were leaning over the table; their cups of tea forgotten.

Lyra felt her lips press against Cormac's and her mind became foggy. She forgot that she was in public and it was completely wrong to snog in front of everyone and she forgot about the exchange between her date and her dormitory mate.

Her hands nodded in his soft hair she had always dreamt of touching and she wished that there wasn't a table between them.

Lyra could honestly say that that was her very first kiss.
