Sirius went to Peter's hiding place, wanting to speak to him about James, Lily, and Harry.
Sirius missed his best friend and his godson more then anything at the moment, and not being able to see James in a long time took a huge toll on his mood. Sirius knew, from a letter Lily had sent himnot too long ago, that the Potters were doing just fine and that Peter had visited them - acting a bit odd.
That was another reason why Sirius was visiting Peter. Not only because he wanted to know truthfully how the Potters were doing but he wanted to make sure no one was trying to threaten Peter. Peter was a weak, useless thing and if someone wanted to threaten Peter then it would be easy to make him pee his robes.
When Sirius got to Peter's hideout he instantly felt something was off. Sirius parked his motorbike in the street and sped into Peter's house. The door was unlocked and no lights were on in the house. Sirius knew that Peter would never leave the house unless he had to, because he might be scared that someone would kill him.
Sirius searched the house desperatly, but there was no sigh of a struggle. Sirius wished their was a sigh of a struggle, then he wouldn't feel as though Peter had betrayed them.
Unsettled by the lack of any struggling signs, SIrius rushed out of the house and hopped on his bike. He rode straight up into the air and raced to Godrics Hallow, where he hoped that the Potters would be; safe and sound.
*~*
When Sirius got there the Potter house was completely destroyed. Sirius felt his face fall even more then it already had, he was too devistated to cry.
He rushed through the gate and onto the debris and lifted the bricks, looking for his friends. He found James not a second later, his body was. . . horrifying.
"No . . . no. . . NO!" Sirius growled, looking at his best friend. He got to his feet and searched even further, ignoring Harry who was wailing at the top of his lungs. Normlly, Sirius would have emmidiatly picked him up and comfroted him, but he had to find Lily. . . he had to.
Lily's body, if anything, was even worse. It looked as though half of her had been near an explosion. How did that happen? Why was the house destroyed? If Voldemort had been here, why was Harry still alive?
Harry.
Sirius got to his feet and rushed over, only to see a large mass of a man standing over the crib, pushing large boards of wood off of it.
"Hagrid?" Sirius walked over to his large friend. "What are you doing here?"
"Takin' Harry," Hagrid grunted, picking up Harry easily. "Got ter take him somewhere he can stay."
Sirius stared at Harry. Harry looked exactly like James, which only got SIrius shaking uncontrollably and what made it worse was when Harry stared straight into SIrius' eyes and Sirius felt as though Lily was looking at him. Sirius might have imagined the accusitory stare from Harry, but if he imagined it or not a small voice in Sirius' head couldn't help but say; this is all your fault, Sirius, this is all your fault.
"It's okay, Sirius," Hagrid said, tapping his shoulder in what was supposed to be a gentle and comforting way but instead made Sirius lurch forward, only just managing to stop himself from falling. "We still have Harry."
"Give Harry to me, Hagrid," Sirius said. "I'm his godfather, I'll look after him."
Hagrid's face was sympathetic. "I have me orders from Dumbledore. Dumbledore said Harry was ter go ter his aunt and uncle's."
"But I'm supposed to be his gardian," Sirius argued. "Lily and James chose me to look after him if something was to happen."
"Dumbledore said I had to," Hagrid said gruffly.
Sirius felt the urge to shout and kick something but he as too busy thinking to do so. Peter did this. Peter betrayed his friends, it as his fault. Sirius felt a surge of anger shoot through him like poison in his veins.
"You can take my motorbike to get Harry there," Sirius said, gesturing to the hunk of junk behind him. "I won't need it anymore."
Hagrid nodded his massive head and put a large hand on SIrius' shoulder in comfort before heading towards the motorbike.
Sirius didn't need that anymore, it had too many memories with James in it. Sirius took out his wand and went on his search for his ex friend.
Peter Pettigrew.
