Snape had not been pleased to see thm all staring at his memories, but he didn't take points away or gave them detention, which showed them how upset he was.
Strangely, this didn't make Lynx feel better - it made her feel even worse.
"I can't believe Mum was a bully," Lynx said sadly.
Lynx was curled up in an armchair next to the fireplace, her legs tucked under her chin and her hair falling in front of her face. Will was sitting in the armchair next to her, his curly hair even more messy then before.
"I always thought she was a prankster like. . . like me," Lynx looked down at the green water balloons in her hand and put them on the table on the other side of her. "But she's nothing like me. She doesn't even look like me much. She is so much more beautiful."
"There has to be an explanation," Will said desperatly. "I mean, everyone always smiled at us and said we were so much like our parents when they first met us, but we are nothing like that. We don't hex people for no reason, you don't either. . ."
"The way Mum looked at Harry's Mum was so. . . so hateful," Lynx whispered. "She always said that Lily was her best friend. . . but they were never friends at all. Why did she lie?"
"They could have been friends at some point," Will said. "It was only one day. . ."
Lynx shook her head in disgust. "How can she act like that? I always respected her, I thought she was the nicest person in the world and she was really a disgusting bully. What else has she been keeping from us? First she kept an uncle from us and now she kept her bullying years from us. What next? She was never really married to Dad?"
"Don't say that, Lynx," Will said. "That's a bit farfetched-"
"No, it's not," Lynx snapped, glaring at her brothe rlike it was his fault. "It's not far-fetched at all. She was bullying a kid - Snape - for no reason. And then Dad disappears, apparently he doesn't remember her. Why on earth would he run away if a girl was there-"
"He was confused and scared," Will said. "Lynx, your making a big deal out of nothing-"
"And you're not?" Lynx practically screamed. "Our Mum was a bully, Will! A bully! I used to respect her - I used to want to be her but now I'm disgusted at the thought!"
"Why don't I write a letter?" Will said. "She'll explain everything, she always does."
Lynx shook her head, her eyes suspiciously bright. "No. I want her to tell me face to face. I want to see some remorse, some guilt, something! So don't you dare mention this, not now, not never."
Will studied his sister for a moment before sighing. "Fine. I won't. Trust me, Lynx, I'm disappointed in her too but don't make this one memory change what you see in her. This is Snape's memory we're talking about, of course he'll pick the worse thing he could think of about our mother."
"Don't tell," was all Lynx said before rushing over to her dorm.
