Based off that scene where Max is explaining to El who Wonder Woman is
Set in 1985
Maxs POV
After an exhausting day of going all over the mall, El and I came back to my house. The whole bus ride home, after El dumped Mike, we spent the entire time talking about how boys are stupid and how we didn't need them. We changed out of the clothes we wore all day and I gave El a T-shirt and shirts and I put on a tank top and shorts. We got under the covers of my bed and El was going through my comic books.
"Who is she?" El asked holding up a picture of Wonder Woman
"See this is why you can't just hang out with Mike all the time" I said sitting next to her "This is Wonder Woman, she is a super badass super heroine" (a/n idk exactly what she said and I'm too lazy to go back and see)
"She's pretty" El said
"She is isn't she" I replied
"You're pretty too" El said
"You think so?" I asked
"Yeah, prettier than Mike"
"For boys we call them handsome, for girls, we're called pretty"
"Oh" she said
I smiled softly and ran my hand through her hair.
"Max?" She said
"Yeah?"
"Can girls like girls?" She asked
"Yes, they can, but not everyone in the world thinks its right so many people live sad loves because they don't wanna be judges, but I just think hey, if you love someone, why not just go for it" I said to her
"Max?" She said
"Yes?"
"I think I like a girl" she said softly
"Really? Who?" I asked her as I felt my heart sink a little. I always knew I had some sort of feelings for El. Back in California, this girl in my old school, we would experiment with each other and that's how I figured out I was bi.
"You" She said softly
"Oh, um really?" I said
"Yeah, when I was kissing Mike, I would think I was kissing you"
"Yeah, it felt better"
"I like you too El"
She sat up and looked me in the eye.
"Remember when I first saw you, I didn't like you?" She said
"Yeah" I replied
"It was because I saw you and Mike in the gym and i thought you took him from me"
"Oh, well I'm sorry"
"Can I kiss you?" She asked me quickly
"If you want to" I said
She nodded and smiled softly
  We leaned toward each other and soon our lips were touching. It didn't feel like fireworks like how you see in movies. It was soft, it felt floaty, it felt right.
  This is when I knew, she was the girl I was meant to be with.
