Stan's POV
I was sitting on my couch watching TV while drinking a glass of wine when my phone began ringing. I picked it up and saw it was Bill calling. I pressed the answer button and held the phone up to my ear.

"Hello?" I answered
"Hey Stan" Bill answered. I could tell he'd been crying. His voice was hoarse and it sounded raspy and he was sniffling softly, like he didn't want me to hear.
"Bill what happened, you sound like you've been crying"
"Can I come over?"
"Yeah of course, I'll leave the front door open"
"Thanks Stanny"
"Your welcome"
We said our goodbyes and hung up the phone. I got up and unlocked my door, even though it was 9pm at night, but I didn't want to get up again when Bill got here. About 20 minutes later, I heard my front door open and slam shut. He walked over to the couch and sat next to me and I handed him a glass of wine. He took a sip and set the glass down.
"What happened?" I asked him
"I caught him sleeping with some chick he works with" he replied bitterly. I knew who he was talking about. Bill had been dating this guy named Riley for a while and they have had a pretty rocky relationship since Riley cheated on Bill for the first time. Bill was furious when he first found out, but Riley convinced him to give him another chance...until 2 months later it happens again. They made up and it's
been going good for a while, up until tonight I guess. It physically hurts me to see Bill in this position when I know I could treat him so much better, but I wanted Bill to be happy and I didn't want to take him away from a source of happiness he had.
"Billy why do you keep going back to him?" I asked
"I'm done with him for good this time and I fucking mean it" he answered
I wrapped an arm around him and he laid his head on mine.
"You don't deserve to be treated like this" I said softly
"Yeah I do, I'm a dumbass for even believing him"
"Don't say that, he's just very manipulative"
"Why can't I find someone like you, you're so kind and funny and smart I'm surprised you're still single" he said
My eyes widened and my heart started beating faster.
"W-What?" I stuttered out
"I mean it, I would love to have someone like you, but they'd never be good enough because they aren't you"
I was speechless, I didn't know how to respond.
"You deal with my bullshit, you listen to me vent about my stupid relationships and how they all fail, you even have my favorite wine in your fridge even though you hate it in case I come over." He ran a hand through my hair and then took my hand in his.
"How could've I been blind this whole time?" He said softly
"Billy are you sure this is how you feel and not just out of anger?" I asked him
"Yes Stanley I'm sure, this has been knocking around in my head for a long time"
"Really?" I said
"Yes, and you're the one I want, only you. I was just in denial when I first thought about it, but fuck that shit, I want to be with you"
I leaned in and kissed him softly. It was quick but it was nice. I smiled and he smiled back.
"No one will ever be as good as you" he said
