Beware of missing chances; otherwise, it may be altogether too late someday.
Franz Liszt
"Voltean se muy despacito. Si se voltean rápido los mato." I hear the voice say.
We start turning around and I see the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen in my life. "Damn it, Evelyn. You nearly gave us a fucking heart attack." I proclaim.
She starts laughing and she couldn't look any better. She was wearing a pair of Chuck Taylors high top tennis shoes that had heels on the inside, some jeans, and a Pink Floyd T-shirt. She looked like a regular person in civilian clothes. I couldn't stop staring at her smile and her ruby red lips.
The concierge runs over to us and asks us if everything was alright. I tell him that everything was fine and he walks away. Marcus says "Man, fuck this shit, you dragged me down here to give me a heart attack bro."
I tell him that I didn't know that she was here and he says that he's going to sleep and walks back inside the elevator. I ask her what she's doing here and she tells me that she heard that we were on our way back and that she wanted to see me. I told her that it was very thoughtful but that I was tired and sleepy after a long flight.
Her smile fades away and says, "ok, well I better go then, I'll see you tomorrow."
She starts to walk away and then tell myself that I'm stupid. I run after her and stop her.
"Do you want to come upstairs for a nightcap?" I ask. She nods and smiles again. I could stay awake all night just to see her smile. I was intoxicated with her smile.
I hit the button on the elevator and we wait in silence for it to come down again. She finally speaks and asks me, "So, how was your trip?"
I reply, "it was ok, we got our mark and he was being taken into custody the moment we got off the plane."
The elevator doors open and I say "After you."
Evelyn gets inside and once the doors close, she starts to kiss me and I kiss her back. Her hair was so soft, it was like holding threads of silk in my hand. It was also very long, I could tell that it was close to the small of her back. Last time I saw her, her hair was in a tight bun. Military uniforms and military buns don't do any women any justice because some women have such beautiful hair, like Evelyn. I pull her so close that I lift her up off the floor. Easy she was around 5'5", she was short but those kinds of women I loved to call them fun size. I loved shorter women, I don't know why but it was a thing for me, once we get to my floor, we stop kissing.
She apologizes and I tell her, "no need for apologies. If you hadn't done that, honestly, I would've kissed you first but I just didn't want to seem like I was coming on too strong."
She takes my hand into hers and I could still hear Daniel in amazement about his room while he is talking to his wife, we pass by Fito's room and hear him snore. When we pass Drew's room, I could hear him laughing at some movie. I put in the key to my room and open the door for Evelyn. She walks in and looks around.
"I never been in this hotel before, its beautiful on the inside and out. Almost as if I was traveling back in time." She says.
I reply, "I know, I love this hotel, it's gorgeous."
I ask her if she wants something to drink and she tells me that she could go for a rum and coke. I get a tall glass and pour a mini bottle of rum into the glass and pour the coke into the glass until it's filled to the rim. I pour myself a glass of coke and rum for myself.
I hand her the drink and she takes a sip. I walk over to the window and see a few stars and see that there was no moon.
"It's a new moon. I wish there would be a full moon because the moonlight always makes me feel better." I say.
