My life is my message.

I start walking towards Dan, and Ruth tells me that she'll handle it. I didn't even see where she came from. It is like she just appeared out of nowhere. She walks up to Dan and slaps him twice on the left side of his face.
"I can't believe that you would even dare say something so stupid like that. What is your problem? Did you forget that I am English? You insulting those beautiful girls is like insulting me. Do you want to know why? Because I came to this country illegally. Back then immigration was easier to fool. Then I met your dad and when we got married, he fixed my papers and after so many years, I became a citizen. My own son, I can't believe that my own son would be so disgusting in saying horrible things...."
I walk up to Ruth and tell her to let it go. She tells me that he needs to hear what she was saying.
I then tell her "Look at his face. Look at his eyes. He's defeated. He's broken already. Leave him be. Please, just go out to the back."
Ruth starts walking away and Jonathan takes her into his arms. I turn around and ask Dan if he was happy.
"This is why one should not open their mouths. All this hate and racism that you have for my race because of one person. You ended up hurting the one that loves you the most. Your mother. Is that how you planned all these things to happen? What did you think was going to happen if you continued? Eventually, you were going to hurt the wrong person and that person was going to hurt you back as you've never been hurt before and guess what? Karma came to deliver. Now, Evelyn told me to take the trash out and I don't think that you're trash, only ignorant and closed-minded. So on that note and I told you earlier that anyone that hurts my kids I would go through them, well I suggest you get the hell out of my house before I go through with that promise." I tell Dan in an angry voice.
Dan throws his plate on the floor and walks out of the house and slams the door. As I start walking to Ruth, you can hear some tires screeching. I ask Ruth if she was ok and she says that she was disappointed in her son. I tell her that he would eventually change his mind, but that something drastic had to change him. She tells me that she hopes that it wasn't too drastic that would change him. I give her a hug and tell her that it was going to be ok. I tell her to go out and have some fun. She tells me that she'll try.
My mom comes up to me and asks if everything was ok and I tell her that it was nothing that I couldn't handle. She tells me that she encountered something similar to that but when she was the manager of Sam's Club a long time ago. She tells me that a black American lady told her to go back to Mexico because she was tired of smelling tacos and rice wherever she went shopping. I laugh and tell my mom that tacos and rice is the best smell in the world and my mom starts laughing and says that mole with some rice would be great. I tell her that she was making me hungry again and she starts laughing. I tell my mom that I was going to go check on the girls and that I would be back. The guys ask me if everything was ok and I tell them that everything was ok and that I was going to go check on the girls.
I knock on the girl's door and then go inside. Eve was holding Ayeka and Jasmine was holding Melfina.
I ask which one of the girls was trying to get the cake and Melfina comes running to me and says "Daddy, I only wanted a piece of cake. I didn't think that I was going to get in trouble."
I hug her hard and tell her that she was not in trouble and that the bad man would never say anything to her ever again. Eve gets up and sits next to Jasmine.
"Sweetie, please let me apologize for what happened. He's my brother but I won't tolerate anything like that in our home. This house is culturally open. I'm a white girl that is British with an English mom and an American dad. Your dad is a Mexican that was born American. Raised in both Mexico and America. You four are also Mexicans born in America. So this house has so many cultures that we have no idea which one to have fun with. But to clear things up. He won't be coming back here again. This is your house now and you are allowed to do and go anywhere in this house. You, Lydia, Melfina, and Ayeka. This is our home and I may not be your real mom but think of me as your mom away from home. I will make sure that no one gets hurt here." Eve tells Jasmine while rocking Melfina to sleep.
