Chapter 58

Controversy

   

Colt has been very attentive with his surroundings as soon as we went off his Aston Martin.

Wala akong ideya kung dahil ba nangangambang may makakita sa amin o ano. Ngunit nang mapansin niya ang kuryoso kong ekspresyon ay bumuntong-hininga ito at tipid na ngumiti.

"This is my first time to roam around again outside the showbiz so..." He scratched his nape and chuckled shyly. "Please bear with me."

Kasalukuyan naming nilalandas ang mall na paborito namin noon malapit sa aming village.

The familiar scenario of suspicious gawks from the people around were almost an ordinary thing to me now. Siguro mas magugulat pa ako kung walang pumapansin sa amin ngayong kasama ko ang isang ito.

Well, that's the exact reason why Ghunter and I mostly preferred to have our dates on uncrowded places like countryside and alfresco restaurants or promenades.

Minsanan na lang ang pagbisita sa mga mall at kung magagawi man ay saglit lang ang itatagal dahil kapuwa namin ayaw sa masyadong atensiyon. And just like Colt, Ghunter always has to put a disguise just to not draw that much attention.

Natawa ako nang may naalala at napabaling muli kay Colt. Marahan akong tumango dahil naintindihan naman iyon.

"Busy with the movie?" I asked.

"Yup. And other projects aside from that," he said as he put his hands inside his pocket. "The only thing I'm holding onto is I'll be able to breathe more peacefully in no time."

"At the end of your contract?"

He nodded gently. "Yes. By then, we'll probably fly back to California and... settle down."

Napangisi ako at humalukipkip. "That's good. In advance, I want to congratulate you for overcoming all that."

Ngumisi naman siya sa akin at nagkibit-balikat. "Thanks, Coleen. You're part of my journey. So I won't be in this spot if it wasn't for you."

"Oh, don't make me laugh," sarkastiko kong bulalas.

Mangha itong napailing. "You savage lady."

Tanging ngisi na lang ang naisukli ko at natahimik na kalaunan bago itutok ang mga mata sa aming nilalakaran.

Unti-unti ko nang nararamdaman ang pangingirot ng talampakan dahil nakakaisang oras na ata ang tinagal namin na puro lang lakad at pamamasyal ang ginawa.

Maybe he missed public place so much that's why I couldn't burst his little bubble of enjoyment.

Bukod pa roon, sa tagal na naming naglalakad ay hindi pa kami muling nagagawi sa parteng gustong-gusto ko nang pag-usapan.

Our conversation would always last for just a couple of minutes and back to strolling again. Kadalasan pa ay puro futuristic ang topic. We talked almost all about our future plans and our current lives, but never about our past.
