I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't just seeing things. A familiar vermilion haired woman stood up with the rest of the captains. With my mind still being clouded by the alcohol and all this damn mana I figured I was just going crazy.
Pushing through the crowd, I kept my eyes on her figure above. As I drew closer I could see her more clearly. "What the hell?" I muttered ignoring all the irritable nobles trying to cuss me out as squeezed past them.
Someone yanked the back of my cloak making me turn around. I looked back to see the young lion cub. Thankfully I didn't have to deal with an angry noble. He tilted his head confused by my reaction. "Hey Scarlet, you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I- I don't know what's going on. I need to get in that castle." I turned away only to be yanked again.
"Well, they probably won't let you inside right now. We can go in together after it's over if you'd like." He threw me a genuine smile.
The wind began picking up making my hair whip around my face. Hearing the gasps around me I turned back to the stage to see Yuno flaring his mana with his little fairy beside him. His grimoire flipped pages creating a wind made bow and arrow. The arrow grew larger before he outstretched his hand sending it hurtling towards Asta.
Without missing a beat, Asta pulled his sword out of the ground and canceled the spell making the wind whip around everyone in proximity. The crowd around me shrieked covering their faces while falling into each other from all the wind pressure. They were left speechless looking at the two newbies.
I let out a small chuckle as Asta began yelling at his childhood friend. Those two really are something. Leo's eyes shimmered as we glanced over my shoulder. "He really is a worthy rival." He muttered, making me roll my eyes with a smile.
The nobles couldn't believe what they had just witnessed. Two newbies being that strong, especially the Black Bull? They began whispering to one another in amazement before someone from the back shouted that they were mere commoners.
The Wizard King spoke up to calm the chaos that jackass started. "Having seen their power, if anyone still doubts their achievements, please step forward. It is true that they are commoners, but that means they've worked harder than anyone to get here. Please give these two rookies a round of applause! Let us overcome our differences and unite to guide our country to victory!"
After the crowd accepted what the Wizard King had said, he continued the ranking announcements. In order the ranks continued, Silver Eagles, Blue Rose, Crimson Lions, Green Mantis, Coral Peacock, Purple Orcas and lastly the Aqua Deer.
I looked back to Leo to see his face riddled with fear. "Are you gonna be alright?"
He took a deep breath as sweat collected on his forehead. "My squad is as good as dead."
I awkwardly laughed, patting the lion cub on the back to comfort him. Since the rankings were over I grabbed Leo's arm and began pulling him towards the castle. Since it's only the king speaking, it probably isn't important. I ignored his useless shrieking until I finally managed to make it to the castle.
"So where are you going from here?" Leo questioned as we ascended up the stairs.
"Well.. This might sound crazy but..." I trailed off before feeling a scarier aura than Yami's on the floor above.
Leo and I both paused feeling our hairs stand on end. "Y-You sure this is the right way?" Leo gulped and began backing down the stairs.
I nodded my head as I continued onward. Each step felt like I was walking closer to my demise. Peaking around the corner I could see the vermilion haired woman peering out of the window. With her back facing the doorway I could see her robes and hair flowing upwards with her flames.
