Magna's pov

Chaos echoed around us as we made our way towards our potential demise. Fuck that. We're not dying today. I'm not going to let that happen. "That jackass is going to pay."

"Yeah yeah, you've been talking about it for days. Avenge your girlfriend, save Yami." Zora mocked him before growing more serious. "Just don't die or I'll have to deal with it."

The amount of mana ahead was suffocating. With each step down the stone corridor I felt more uneasy. When we reached the doorway I took a deep breath. The Mantis captain was beaten to hell with his magic blades sticking out in every direction. Dante laughed looking unscathed in his complete demon form. "Let me thank you for entertaining me. Don't worry, I'll end you spectacularly!"

My grimoire rose beside me as I conjured a fireball and threw it, hitting him directly in the chest. Zora and I stepped in front of the mantis and threw off our cloaks. "Yo."

Dante stood there puzzled. "Huh? Nobodies like you shouldn't even be here."

"Why are you dweebs here? Get lost!" The mantis growled.

"You heard him. There's nothing you can do."

"We're here to trash you people and save Captain Yami. Plus, I have a bone to pick with you." Sweat beaded on my skin as he grimaced down at me.

"A bone to pick? What the hell are you even gonna do? Your magic is so insignificant, even if you both fight me at once there's no point."

"Don't get the wrong idea pal. I'm taking you down by myself. I saw what you did to my base, my friends and more importantly my woman."

Dante's laugh echoed through the room. "Your woman huh? You saw what happened and still decided to throw your life away here? Humor me, which one was she? The whiney blue haired one? The fiery redhead? It couldn't have been the beauty who manipulated my magic for those cretins."

I clenched my fists. "They have names, asshole. Her name is Scarlet."

"Oh the red head, how original." He scoffed. "What a beauty, but so brash. I would have loved to bring her into my harem. Her magic was truly interesting. Too bad I had to knock her down a few pegs."

"You bastard. I won't let you anywhere near her again."

"Hmm.. I assume she's here isn't she. Maybe I should go find her. In fact, I'll even let you try and stop me." Dante rose from the ground with his arms out looking down with a shit eating grin.

"Like hell you're going anywhere." Conjuring another fireball I threw it right into Dante's chest.

The fireball didn't seem to do anything in Dante's eyes. "And? You think that will stop me?"

As I charged forward an array appeared on each of our chests connecting us with a fiery chain. While he stood there confused, his mana drained while mine rose significantly. "What, this is half? That's completely nuts! There's no way a peasant like me could ever squeeze out magic like this." My flames wrapped around my hands creating fiery brass knuckles.

I punched him straight in the face, sending him stumbling back. "I combined our mana and split it equally. This is how I'll fight ultimate types like you. Magna Swing of the Black Bulls is gonna crush you! Oh and let me give you a heads up. That chain is connecting our souls so if you yank it out or break it you'll go insane."

While Dante stood in shock I took the opportunity to punch him in the gut. His eyes grew wide as he coughed up blood. Flaring his mana he threw a punch back hitting me in the jaw.

"I guess I'm doing a good job stopping you from running off." I shot him a cocky look, my voice coming out gruff.

His demeanor grew more unhinged. "Shut your mouth you filthy thief!" He tried to use his gravity magic to push me down but I stood my ground. The ground below crumbled under the pressure.

"We've got the same amount of magic. I can buckle down and take this!" My fist connected with his chest leaving a decent sized wound.

Laughing, he began to heal. "No matter what you do I can always regenerate with my body magic." He began throwing punches wildly while I stood my ground blocking with my forearms. "Get on your knees and regret that you got above yourself and defied me!"

When I saw an opening I bobbed and weaved to throw a punch hitting him directly in the face. He flew back slamming into the ground shattering the stone below.

He rose slowly while still laying back. "How dare you.. you put my back to the ground!"

Rocks began to fly at me from all directions. With the mana boosting me I managed to keep up and shatter each of the rocks. I spotted him creating a sword from stone.

"Why don't I teach you a lesson like I did your little girlfriend." He swung the sword towards me but I jumped out of the way and landed a hit to his side. "You put up more of a fight than she did! Too bad I managed to cripple her while you weren't around!"

That comment hit a nerve. I dodged his next hit and got in closer, landing another hit to his shoulder. He swung his opposite fist hitting me in the jaw. For each hit he lands, I land two. "I'm gonna blast you to smithereens!"

My body screamed. Who knows how much blood I've lost, not to mention this guy looks almost unscathed. While catching my breath he began rambling again.

"Do you see now? This is reality. Unfair, unequal reality. No matter how much an inferior like you struggles, it's pointless!" When he went to throw another punch, his magic gave out on him. Panic riddled his eyes. "You little punk! What did you do this time?"

A dry laugh escaped my lips. "Nothing ya moron. We're both out of magic, that's all." I stood up tall, rolling my shoulders to crack my joints. "With your monstrous magic I bet you've never run out before. You've probably never fought someone with the same amount of magic as you either. You didn't even realize you were burning up so much." Using all my force, I uppercut him right in the jaw.

Dante stumbled slightly before sending another punch at my face. "I can't lose! Not to a..."

I swung my first at him as well. "Shuddup ya psycho." Both of our fists hit each other's faces at the same time. Dante fell to the ground with me standing over him. I clenched my fists roaring in victory. The world around me was growing hazy. When I tried to move I stumbled forward being caught by Zora.

"You won that one, Magna."

"Thanks Zora, my man."

"Like I said, I'm not your man."

Footsteps were heard running towards us. "Magna!" Asta shouted.

Asta's here and so is Luck. I glanced past him to see a blur of red hair. My eyes widened as they focused on Scarlet leaning against the doorway with a mix of shock and relief in her eyes. Those beautiful emerald eyes.
