The Battle Rages On

Luck had reached the doorway just in time for us to see Magna deliver the final blow to Dante. Luck set me down and I stumbled catching myself on the wall. I couldn't stop shaking. Dante, the one who destroyed everything and nearly killed us, was now laying on the ground motionless.

When Magna stumbled forward from exhaustion Zora was right there to catch him. Asta and Luck were already rushing over to congratulate him while I couldn't move. How did he do it? Is Dante really down for the count? Magna's eyes scanned our friends before meeting mine. His eyes softened with relief.

Magna gently pushed Zora aside and began hobbling over to me. Noticing his struggle, Luck rushed over to help him. He hissed in pain from Luck wrapping his arm around him but continued forward.

"Magna..." I muttered. He looked rough, but he was alive out here in this chaotic hell.

He gently grabbed my hand bringing my wrist to his lips to plant a kiss. "I'm glad to see you back in one piece."

"How did you know..?" Tears welled in my eyes.

"It's a long story. I'll fill you in after we finish cleaning up this mess."

I brought my hand up brushing the dirt and blood away from his eye and rested it on his cheek. "Didn't I tell you to stop being so reckless?"

"I'm not gonna sit around and watch some asshole destroy everything I love."

Luck giggled, poking Magna's side. He grunted in pain and tried pushing Luck away. "Earth to Magna and Scarlet. We're on a battlefield here. This is no time to be so sappy." Luck laughed poking at Magna again.

"He's right." Nacht walked up beside us, handing us what I assume was Charmy's cookies. "Here, it's not much but it will have to do."

"I don't know who the hell you are but thanks." Taking a cookie Magna groaned. "I'm gonna be sore for weeks."

We began heading towards where the crazy blood devil is holding the Heart Kingdom's queen hostage. Before we picked up the pace Magna grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his chest. "I love you. No matter what happens out here in this hellscape, I needed you to know that." He gently brushed my hair back before he pulled me into a kiss.

I melted into him. It's been too long since I felt his warmth and comfort. When we broke the kiss I smiled up at him. "Of course I know that. I love you too."

"Didn't I say to stop being so sappy!" Luck yelled from down the hall.

I laughed seeing Magna's irritation. "Come on, we gotta catch up!"

As we ran we all filled each other in on what we've seen on the battlefield. Everyone who was training in the Heart Kingdom arrived and they're more powerful than ever. There's demons of varied statuses running amok. The resistance is holding fairly strong and Leona is kicking major ass.

Luck slowed down to match his speed with Asta. "Noelle is in trouble. She's almost out of mana."

Asta's eyes widened. He quickly pulled his largest sword out of his grimoire. "I'll meet you all there! I have to save Noelle!" He threw his sword and hopped on surfing through the air.

"I'm coming too!" The two raced ahead leaving the rest of us in the dust.

When we rounded the next corner several half armored blood soldiers charged towards us. Knowing we have two injured, I took the lead. "Save your magic! I got these guys!" After summoning my armor I created two manicores to help me mow down these abominations.

I jumped forward slashing through the first one while my manticores began tearing through the others. Using my tail I skewered two that were running directly at me and blasted a cone of fire out at the rest.
