I used to go to the batting cages all the time to fine tune my swing for softball. Any time I was stressed out I would spend hours with a bat smacking ball after ball after ball. When Harry told me that he knew of a place that had batting cages I should have known he had an ulterior motive. I am anxious to spending some time out of the house but Louis doesn't seem as enthusiastic. He is in the slow pitch cage not even trying to hit the ball it seems. "You're too far away from the plate!" I call out to him. I try not to coach people at the cages because I know it comes off like I am a know it all but sometimes I can't help myself.
Louis doesn't seem like a bad guy but he doesn't seem like my type either. At least he isn't bad looking. Harry could be trying to set me up with a troll. I just wish he would stop trying all together. It makes things a lot more awkward than they already are. It makes me not want to be around Louis at all. I have the feeling he feels the same way about me. "You're not watching the ball all the way through."
Louis glares at me. Now I know I have pissed him off. "I really don't care!" he yells back to me. I was just trying to help. What a jerk.
Once his turn is over I step back in the cage for round two. I put my token in the slot and I miss the first 3 balls. I keep seeing Louis snarling out of the corner of my eye and it's distracting. He would be an attractive guy if he didn't look like he was smelling a dirty diaper all of the time. He is ruining my only way of escape. I can't seem to concentrate. "You're not keeping your eye on the ball!" he yells to me in a mocking way. Is he making fun of me? I hate him.
I am finally able to block him from my mind and get a good bat on the rest of the balls that get shot out. I hit them harder and harder as each one flies towards me. I'll teach him to mock me to my face. I'll make believe one of the balls is his head. That's some good motivation right there. The last ball comes out and I hit it so hard that my hands hurt from the vibration of the bat. I step out of the cage and instead of handing him the bat I just drop it at his feet. If he isn't going to try to be nice then I won't either.
