"Alyssa." I felt myself being shaken. My mother stood over me, "mom?" I questioned. She sat down on my bed, "we're leaving for the platform soon." I slowly sat up nodding. "Get ready I'll bring you up breakfast." I smiled in thanks. My father only allowed me to eat supper with the rest of my family, otherwise I ate alone in my room. She squeezed my hand, "I'll be back soon."

I packed my trunk quickly then got ready in the mirror, applying makeup, and straightening my hair. I heard a small knock, when I turned around I saw Draco standing in my doorway. "Hi," I whispered finishing getting ready. "Hey, ugh mom wanted to know if you wanted to come downstairs, fathers not here." I nodded, "I'll be down in a minute." Draco grabbed my trunk, "I'll take this for you." I looked at him confused, "why? I can handle it." He shrugged, "if you say so. Um guess I'll see you down there." I turned back around sighing.

We used to be extremely close, he's the only one who understood how miserable life was growing up. I grabbed my things carrying them down the mansion stairs. Mom smiled at me passing me my plate, "here you are." I thanked her sitting down. Our meal was ate in silence, and as we finished the house elf collected our plates. Mom stood up, "alright darlings to the fireplace." Father appeared apparating into the kitchen. "Children, we're leaving." I grabbed a handful of floo powder then arrived at the platform. Students were already boarding the train. "Goodbye son." Father said, while mom hugged him quickly. He gave me only a nod, while mom gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Stay away from Weasleys and that potter. Understand?" I looked down, "yes father." He hit me with his wand case, and I could feel blood trickle down my face. "You look at me when you address me Alyssa Malfoy." My eyes were burning, "yes Father." They then both turned away leaving the station. Draco looked at my face, "are you okay?" I glared at him, "shove off." I kept my head down searching for an empty compartment, I saw one that was mostly empty except a man who was asleep. That was by best option right now. I went all the way into the booth staring out the window, my cut was still bleeding so I pulled my hood up trying to hide it.

Harry Ron and Hermione found my compartment. "Alyssa, how are you?" I shrugged looking down. "I'm good how are you guys?" They seemed unsure about me. "We're okay." Ron answered. I turned my head back out the window, "I'm gonna try to sleep a little." Harry nodded, "we'll wake you when the trolly comes." I gave him a small smile resting my head on the window once again.

My ride was quite uneventful like promised I did end up falling asleep. I heard a loud scream from our compartment which made me jerk back to. I gasped when I saw a black foul looking creature standing over Harry, he looked as though he had fainted. I sunk down onto the ground with him ignoring the dark thing over top of us. I felt cold and more unloved then I did before. Flashbacks of my father yelling at me, and hitting me played through my head. "You are not a part of this family." He spat. "I don't want to be a part of this family father. I hate you." I whispered embracing myself for the impact that never came.

"Alyssa," I felt myself being shaken. "What happened?" I asked sheepishly. "You fainted." The man in the corner replied. Ron whispered," You were talking, it sounded like you were fighting with...." the man cut him off. "That's not important, I gave Harry a piece of chocolate trust me it will make you feel better." I took the piece he gave me and I nodded in thanks. "Why don't you follow me, we'll clean up your face." I stood up still feeling faint, following the man to the front of the train. "Sit here," the man directed me to an empty seat, he came back with a wet cloth. "Sir, can I ask a question?" He nodded, "what were those things?" He pressed the cloth against my face, "dementors, they bring out some of your worst possible memories." I looked down, that was probably why they said I was talking about my father. "This wound doesn't seem all that new." I shrugged, "I tripped getting onto the train. Didn't realize it was bleeding." He gave me an unsure look, "it looks quite painful." I stood up, "who are you anyway? You don't look like a student?" He smiled, "that's because I'm the new defence against the dark arts professor." I sighed realizing how blunt I was with a professor. "I'm sorry..." I started to apologize. "It's quite alright, why don't you go back with your friends." I nodded sliding back into my seat. That's when Harry filled me in on Sirius Black, my "uncle," as I was supposed to call him. He had escaped from Azkaban, and was supposedly after Harry.
