"Going back tomorrow?" Cedric asked. "I have to Ced." He scoffed, "are you gonna play victim, cry for me. Pretend it wasn't your fault." I stared at him, "it wasn't my fault, all summer I fought for you begged for answers. I promise Ced." He shook his head, "I loved you so much. And you just used me, tossed me aside." I stepped forward trying to grab his arm, "Ced, listen to me..." he pulled back, "don't come near me you selfish bitch." I stared at him shocked, "I didn't do anything, I didn't kill you. It wasn't my fault. I loved you." He turned walking alway, "you don't deserve to live."
I opened my eyes, trying to catch my breath as quietly as possible. "Who were you talking too?" Sirius whispered. I didn't answer. "Bad dream?" I nodded. "About Cedric?" I bit my lip, " I've had one like this before. Where he blames me." Sirius sighed, "just breathe, he doesn't think it's your fault, no one does." I nodded, taking deep breaths. "Try and get a little more sleep." I closed my eyes, "do I really talk in my sleep?" He laughed softly, "ya sometimes."
I woke up roughly two hours later it was early, but it was still morning. "You're up early." Remus smiled looking up from his book. "So are you." He nodded, "I'm usually awake at this time." I sat up tiredly, "I don't know if I want to go back." He lay his arm around me, "I'm going to miss you lots." I rested my head on his shoulder, "do you think I'm ready?" He sighed, "I don't think there's going to be a good time, but if I'm being frank you seem to be better, you've accepted it. And I'm sure it's going to be hard but we're only a letter away." I smiled, "if I'm being frank I don't know what would have happened if you didn't come to Hogwarts third year." He laughed, "you're a strong girl, I just taught you how to accept help." I nodded, "and how to care for someone." He agreed, "I think Cedric taught you that too." I bit my lip, "I hope you know I'm never dating again, I'm going to live with you guys for the rest of my unfortunate life."
Sirius grunted, "absolutely not, I'm not having thirty year old Alyssa still sleeping in our bed." I hit him lightly, "you'll miss me." Remus smiled, "if that's what you need, then we're here." Sirius raised his eyebrow, "you're lucky we love you." Remus nodded, "go get ready." I groaned sitting up, "yes sir." He rolled his eyes and Sirius clapped "faster Alyssa faster."
I got in the shower trying to ignore the burning pain in my stomach, I truly didn't want to go back to Hogwarts. I didn't want to see all of my professors, I didn't want the sympathy, or anything associated with Cedric. I had patched up the wound from losing him, and Hogwarts is just gonna rip it back open. I eventually convinced myself to get out of the shower, I dried myself off and quickly changed into leggings and one of Cedric's hoodies.
"Morning." Fred greeted me as I pushed open our bedroom door. "Hello." I smiled back waving at George. I grabbed my trunk, but Fred stoped me. "Allow us." He said raising his wand lifting my trunk into the air and set it down at the bottom of the landings. "Well thank you."
When I got downstairs everyone was already eating, I made a slice of toast, not wanting a giant breakfast.
"Hurry and eat we're leaving soon." Molly warned. I turned to Remus beside me, "are you coming to the station?" He shook his head, "I didn't think you'd want your old professor hugging you goodbye." I rolled my eyes, "you really think I care about that?" He smiled, "parents might not want me there. I can give you just as good as a goodbye here as I can there." I shrugged, "I guess." When I was finished I quickly washed my plate and was avoiding a frantic Molly who was trying to get everyone to the fireplace. Moody stood there giving everyone floo powder. "Alright dear, write often. Anytime you need someone to talk to I'll be right here. I'm gonna miss you." I hugged Remus, "thank you, I'm gonna miss you more." He smiled, "goodbye." I turned to Sirius but he shook his head, we waited for Moody to leave and then he changed into his dog. I grabbed a handful of floo powder and stood beside Sirius in the fireplace. We made our way to the train all together, but Sirius steered off pulling me and Harry into another room. I stepped back letting him say his goodbyes to Harry. They then both turned to look at me and Harry nodded, "I will." They hugged quickly and he made his way over to me. "This years gonna be tough. I'm gonna miss you everyday, but you're strong you've shown us all that, this summer and last. Write if you need anything at all." He pulled me in gently kissing my forehead, "I love you like you're my own kid." I smiled, "I love you too." I sighed pulling away, "bye." He gave me a small wave, "goodbye Alyssa."
