Chapter 37

It was the night before the second task I was up in the astronomy tower looking up at the stars. Sighing I pulled out a piece of parchment and my quill.

Dear Remus and disowned,
Hey guys I'm writing the night before the second task. Ced and I discovered it is taking place in the black lake, I made him tell Harry don't worry. The Yule ball was amazing I had loads of fun, I gave you a few pictures, I loved the necklace. Anyway school is going pretty good, I'll see you guys soon I'm counting down the days. Miss you!

I sent my owl off and jumped when I saw moody behind me. He stared at me intensely, "you're needed. Dumbledores office." I started to protest.. "I need to find Ced..." he interrupted, "NOW Malfoy." I nodded taking one more look into his eyes, they looked so familiar. I walked quickly not wanting him near me anymore. When I got to his office Ron and Hermione were there already. "Good evening Alyssa." I smiled, "hello professor." I then went to stand beside Hermione, "do you know what this is about?" She shook her head, and we saw Fleurs younger sister walk in. "Each of you is of vital importance to one competitor, you are what they are fighting for this next task." Before we had a chance to ask questions he cast a spell making us freeze.

The four of us were put at the bottom of black lake, unable to move or talk. I heard the cannon blast and took a deep breath, he would be here soon. My eyes lit up as I saw a figure coming closer. As a shape formed I reconized Cedric, he quickly cast a spell releasing me. I put my arms around his neck suddenly feeling very tired. He pushed us up and cheers erupted around the lake. Snape pulled me out of the lake throwing a towel to me. "You did it Ced." I laughed, realizing he had won. He held up his arms making Hogwarts cheer louder, he then smashed his lips against mine, and somehow the cheers got louder. I was smiling and laughing in Cedric's arms.
Rita snapped out photo, and I ignored the fact that I had just been pulled out of the lake, and probably looked awful.

We watched as Krum came out next, I reached down for Hermione. "You okay?" I asked, she smiled, "I'm great." I laughed and we all watched closely waiting for Harry. Soon Fleur came, but she did not have her sister. Moments later, Ron and Fleurs sister appeared swimming towards the edge but there was no Harry. I turned away setting my head on Cedric's shoulder. "He'll be okay," Ced whispered. The crowd started cheering again and when I looked Harry was above the surface. I joined in, jumping on Cedric's back. Dumbledore called all the judges together and we all stood in a circle, "good job." Cedric offered his hand out to Harry. He took it shaking in, "you too."

We turned to Dumbledore as he began announcing the winners. "In first place Cedric Diggory." I threw my arm up screaming with everyone else, he was smiling looking around the stands. "In second we have a tie, Victor Krum and Harry Potter." I wrapped my arms around Harry, "congratulations." He laughed hugging me back. We all made our way inside the first thing I did was shower, I then pulled on a sweater and a pair of jeans. I planned to meet Cedric out by the forest they were celebrating there.

After I had eaten I said goodbye to Harry, and then made my way outside. It was cold outside, and when I reached where they were I could see them drinking and celebrating. Cedric smiled when he saw me, "there she is." I threw my arms around his neck kissing him passionately. "Number one Ced." They brought music, and several of his friends were already drunk dancing around in circles. I got myself a drink joining in, they taught me a few new dances which I did my best to perform. Eventually most of them had collapsed and Cedric grabbed my hand pulling me to the lake. I curled up to him on the bench. "I'm so proud of you." I whispered. He kept his arm around me, "thank you." I sighed, "what do you think the next task is?" He shrugged, "it won't be easy I know that much." I bit my lip, "well like you said at the beginning, eternal glory will look good on you." He laughed kissing my forehead, "you want to go in? It's cold?" I nodded following him into the castle. He leaned up against the stone pulling me in, I slowly began kissing him, when I pulled away I lay my head gently on his chest. "Get some rest. I love you." I smiled, "I love you too."
