Chapter 45

When I woke up it was still early morning, I had only gotten about two full hours of sleep. Remus and Sirius were both passed out, I felt embarrassed that I had run into their room the second I had a bad dream. Remus was still hugging me, and I sighed thinking about last night. Maybe that was the acceptance part.

"You're awake." Sirius whispered. I nodded carefully trying not to wake Remus. "You still upset with me?" I shrugged. He scoffed, "is it because I care? Because Remus does too. So does molly, and all of your friends that are here that you've barely spoken too." I tried to stop more tears from falling, "I know Sirius I know that." I felt him sit up, "you think I don't notice that you're not eating, torturing yourself won't change what happened." Remus was now waking up, he smiled down at me, "good morning." I groaned turning away. Sirius pushed me lightly, "you're not getting out of speaking to me." I pulled the blankets over my head, "I'll eat but I'm not sitting down there with all of you." He sighed, "Alright." Remus stood up, "that's okay Alyssa take a couple of days to just relax."

Sirius got up, "I'll get us all something, and if you still don't want me here after you eat, I'm gone." I looked down not wanting to face him. Remus nodded, sitting back down beside me, "you should've be upset with Sirius." I bit my lip, "I don't understand why you can't just tell me who did it." He pulled me in, "the orders taking care of it." I rolled my eyes, "so I've heard." Sirius was back up trying to balance three plates. I picked up my toast staring down at it, slowly I took a bite setting it back down. "Do you want to talk about last night?" Sirius asked. I shook my head, "No, I'm sorry for waking you both up." Remus sighed, "we want to be there for you Alyssa and if that means your sleeping in here all summer then so be it." Sirius agreed, "sure, I don't mind a cock blocker." I tried to hide my smile, and Remus hit him. "Do not listen to Sirius." I nodded, "I would stay in here every night except Sirius snores too loud." He raised his eyebrow, "sorry for waking you princess." Remus pointed at my toast, "you've taken one bite."

   I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror across the room, the bags under my eyes were noticeable from here. "Have I always been this ugly?" Sirius scoffed, "what on earth would make you say that?" I nodded at my reflection. Remus shook his head, "you're just exhausted." I nodded, "last night I don't know how but I ended up falling asleep, and I dreamt about him, except he was angry he said it was my fault." Sirius sighed, "it was only a dream, but I know how scary they can be." I took a deep breath, "do you guys have a meeting?" They both said no. "You don't have to be scared to ask to stay in here Alyssa. Lay down we'll be here."

    A few hours later I woke up, Sirius was still beside me reading some sort of book. "How you feeling?" I shrugged pushing myself up. "Come downstairs, just for a bit. Your best friends are here and they're worried. You don't have to stay long, I'll come right back up with you when you need." I sighed, "I can't I look dreadful." He shook his head, "how else are you supposed to look right now?" I threw my hair up, grabbing one of his sweaters as we left.

   "Alyssa dear you're just in time for dinner." Molly said hugging me. I took a seat between Remus and Fred. I noticed Tonks was here and a few others as well. "Heard you leave last night, everything okay?" Fred whispered. I nodded, "just couldn't sleep." A huge meal was put before us and I felt overwhelmed considering I've only had a bite of toast in the past three days. I scooped a tiny spoonful of potatoes, some beans and a slice of ham. I listened to everyone's stories and watched as Tonks changed her face into different animals. "We're playing chess tonight if you wanna come watch." I gave him a small smile, "I'd love too."

My heart jumped when the fireplace lit up, when I saw Amos step out he looked just as bad as I did. "Evening." He greeted quietly. Arthur, and Molly immediately stood up to console him, and I just sat there staring. It was like I lost feeling to my entire body, someone squeezed my hand I looked up to see Remus nodding. "You can do this." Slowly I pushed my chair back, walking over to him. "Oh Alyssa." He whispered. "I'm sorry Amos." He smiled, "no I'm sorry you're never going to get your perfect life." He pulled me into a hug, I was the part of his son that was still alive I couldn't pull away.

After a minute he finally stepped back, "I came to give you these Alyssa. His ceremony is tomorrow, I sent you letters but I don't think they arrived. If you'd like to prepare a speech. Or even just stand up there with me.. I'm sure he would like that." I grabbed the bag he handed me, I was at a loss for words. "We will all be there tomorrow Amos." Remus said standing up shaking his hand. "I'm very sorry about you're son." He nodded, "Thank you, take care of yourself Alyssa."
