One more week had passed and today was the day of Buckbeaks execution. I slowly made my way to the great hall after waking up. Cedric stood at the entrance opening his arms for me. I happily accepted hugging him close to me. "I'm not hungry," I whispered. He nodded grabbing my hand, I followed him outside the castle, we went to the bench by the lake and I threw my legs over him leaning my head on his shoulder. "The years almost over." He said. I nodded staring at the lake. "I was thinking, what if you come stay with me?" I sighed, "Ced I'd love too, but they'd find me." He bit his lip, "I'm scared for you." I smiled up at him, "don't be, I'll be okay, we'll be okay." Cedric rubbed my back, "I trust you love, is there no chance of us running?"I grabbed his hand squeezing it, "no Cedric I'm not dragging you into this, do you wanna know something funny?" I asked. He nodded, "of course." I smiled, "I've already started planning our life together, we better last Ced, our two kids depend on it." He laughed, "we have two kids huh?" I nodded, "yes, and a beautiful home on the lake." Cedric grinned, "and I have the most beautiful wife, I think you forgot that part." I nudged him, "I'd like a garden too." He nodded, "I'll build you one." I wrapped my arms around him, "sounds like the perfect life." He nodded, "as long as it's with you."
After an hour the two of us got up, "alright Lyss, you need to eat." I rolled my eyes following him back to the castle. There was almost no one in the great hall, a couple professors were there, I gave Dumbledore, Lupin, and McGonagall a small smile as they were all staring at me. When none of them seemed to acknowledge me, I turned back around sitting with Cedric. I ate a little bit before becoming uncomfortable with their eyes on me. "Does it look like their talking about me?" I asked hinting at the professors. Cedric nodded, "they look concerned." Slowly I stood up, "let's go." He sighed throwing down his toast, "are you sure?" I nodded, beginning to walk out, and he quickly followed. "What do you think their talking about?" I shrugged, "no idea." A group of Cedric's friends were walking our way, "hey, I'm gonna go to the common room, thanks for this morning." He gave me a small smile, "of course love." I gave him a quick kiss and then turned walking away.
Fred and George were sitting on the couch, and I made my way over sitting in the arm chair. "Afternoon." Fred said smiling. I nodded, "afternoon." George sat up, "haven't talked to you in a while, you avoiding us?" I shrugged, "no just had a lot on my plate." Fred sighed sitting back, "oh us too, moms furious about our lack of studying for OWLs. I scoffed, "I don't blame her, shouldn't you two be studying now?" They laughed in union, "ah Ms.Malfoy so naive." I rolled my eyes standing up, "hey do you guys know where Harry is?" George nodded, "he said he had a lesson with professor Lupin or something." I grabbed my jacket, "see ya guys."
I threw my sweater overtop of my shirt on the way to Lupins office. I knocked lightly, watching as a smiling professor Lupin held open the door for me, "well hello Alyssa, what can I do for you?" I sighed, "I came to learn defensive spells, with Harry," Lupin nodded ushering me into the other room. "Right now Harry's working on his patroness spell. What kindve spells are you looking for?" I looked down, "I don't know, a protecting spell, a strong defence one? Just in case I'm ever in danger." He sighed, "that bracelet is for when your in danger." I nodded, "yes I know, but I need to learn anyway." He simply stood in front of me pulling out his wand. "I want you to defend each spell I throw at you. These are easy, they won't hurt you if you fail. Stay focused Alyssa." I held my wand out in front of me, and as he threw the first three curses I defended them immediately.
"Good, good. However the type of magic you think you'll be defending against won't be so simple. Shall we try another curse?" I nodded taking a deep breath, he shot four spells I wasn't entirely familiar with my way. "Focus!" I created a shield around me blocking them out, he smiled, "impressive." I took the shield down, looking up at him. "Now there's one more curse I'd like to try today. It's up to you if you're comfortable with this one." I bit my lip, "what is it?" Lupin sat down, "this allows me inside your head. If you suddenly disappear because one of us helped you, then they could attempt to get inside, find out information on where you are?" I slowly nodded, "what will you see?" He shrugged, "whatever you allow me to. Use your mind push me out. But don't get discouraged this is very complicated magic." I stepped back sighing, "I'm ready."
I sat on my bedroom floor packing my Hogwarts trunk. "Alyssa," my father said standing behind me. I stood up smiling, "I'm almost ready I promise." He smirked, "I know darling, you're going to be the smartest Slytherin there." I laughed as he tickled me, "finish getting ready we're leaving soon." I nodded, "okay."
I shook my head taking a deep breath, it felt like a stabbing pain knowing how close I once was with my father, how much he loved me. "Try harder Alyssa, you don't want me in your head." I nodded bracing myself again, I noticed Harry was now watching.
Father stood over me glaring down. "You filthy little blood traitor. I cringed as he swung his wand case down at me. "This is only the beginning. You are a disgrace to this entire household." I bit my lip trying not to cry. "I'm sorry." He scoffed, "I'm the one who's sorry for giving life to someone like you. A disgusting girl who deserves absolutely nothing." He raised his wand pointing it down at me....
I closed my eyes, not wanted Lupin to see anything after this.
"You did it." He smiled. I nodded stepping back more, "thank you Professor... I should probably go, don't wanna keep Cedric waiting." I lied, quickly leaving the classroom. When I shut the door I leaned against the castle door gasping for air. It felt so painful seeing the two memories beside each other, feeling so loved in one, and so hated in another.
