I was still propped up against the tree, I was getting sick now. The feeling of stress and anxiety was overwhelming, I was serious about trying to run away, I just wasn't sure where or how, and I could drag Cedric into it with me despite his offer. I heard voices and footsteps coming up the trail. "Alyssa." Harry shouted. Professor Lupin was with him, "what's going on?" I shook my head, "just leave me alone." Lupin sighed grabbing my hand pulling me up. "You're ill, let's get her to the wing Harry." They helped me back up to the castle. "Snapes furious with you." I scoffed, "Snape is the least of my worries." When we got to the wing I was put into a bed, my head was feeling light, and the voices around me were fading.
Hours later I sat up rubbing my head. Madam Pomfrey rushed over. "Miss Malfoy, we need to have a chat." I nodded slowly. "You were completely over exhausted. Not eating. Stressed beyond belief. Young lady you need to take care of yourself." I looked away. "You're staying another night so I can keep an eye on you." She stood up storming off and I lay bored in the bed. I looked on my nightstand there were some flowers from Cedric, Hermione, Ron, and Harry each left a chocolate frog, there was some candy from Fred and George. I also saw a card. There was a snake on the front, Draco had come to visit. Inside was one sentence. We need to talk.
Cedric burst through the door, "I heard you were awake." I smiled hugging him, "the flowers are beautiful, a tad dramatic but still pretty." He rolled his eyes, "you scared me love." I grabbed his hand, "I know I'm sorry, just wasn't feeling well. He nodded leaning over and kissing my forehead. "I love you Alyssa Malfoy." I meet his eyes, he did truly make me happy. "I love you too Cedric Diggory." He gave me one more hug, "I have to get off to potions." I scoffed, "have fun." He laughed, "I'll come see you again later on. When I have time to stay." I waved as he left the room and then sat back.
I was about to try and sleep more when Professor Lupin walked in. I was prepared for a lecture, but instead he sat down passing me a piece of chocolate, "how are you feeling?" I shrugged, "better." He nodded, "I'm glad, we were pretty scared when we saw you like that." I nodded, "I'm sorry, just wasn't feeling well." Lupin sighed, "I see, well it's good you're feeling better." I gave a fake smile, "yes feeling great." He didn't seem fully convinced, "well if your feeling sick again maybe tell someone instead of taking off." I nodded, "I thought I needed air, next time I'll let someone know." He stood up giving me a small smile, "good, now rest, and I know it's hard but try not to worry, not yet." I rolled over hugging my blankets close to me.
Later that night Draco snuck into the room. "Hey," I whispered. He sat down in the chair beside my bed. "What happened Alyssa?" I shrugged, "just sick I guess." He nodded, "I heard about father." I sighed, "what he wants me to do?" Draco grabbed my hand, "what are you gonna do?" I bit my lip, "I have no idea. There's not much of a choice." He sat back, "I don't know what to say either. I mean why do you have to prove loyalty, I thought the dark lord was gone?" I shook my head, "I thought so too, maybe this is just to be safe?" Draco scoffed, "classic father getting someone else to do his dirty work." I ran my hands through my hair, "I'm just trying not to think about any of it right now Draco." He nodded, "feel better." I gave him a soft smile, "thank you."
The next few weeks went by a little smoother, I wasn't doing much better in my classes, I was still stressed out for summer, but I was trying to follow Professor Lupins advice and not worry until I needed to. Cedric spent as much time as he could with me, making sure I was eating and sleeping, in other words I was just surviving, trying to keep going as if everything was going to work out, when I had little hope, and I was starting to get the feeling everyone around me felt the same.
