TW: Discussions about abuse

I had yet another one of those dreams last night. My mom just kept hurting my dad and there was a mention of me having more, younger siblings. I don't get it. Just what exactly is going on here? Am I so subconsciously deep into finding her that I'm coming up with scenarios as to what may have happened to fill the gap formed when she left? I feel so hopeless about it all. She probably left with a good reason that we can't argue with her over.

M: [comes into room] Aren't you going to get up Evin?

E: [sternly] No.

M: [gives smoothie] And why is that?

E: I simply don't want to nor do I feel the need to get up with such urgency.

M: [closes door then gets into bed] You can't just be spending all morning lying around, you need to get ready.

E: So?

M: I'm not rushing to get you ready again.

E: What do you mean?

M: I'm the one who's had to get your shoes on too many times.

E: I can't tie my laces that well.

M: And that's why you need to learn.

E: Whatever.

{Graham's POV}

There's no point in denying that I'm eavesdropping on my kid, I'm just worried. When Maya told me that Evin was refusing to get out of bed, my parental instincts kicked in. Is my child okay? Do they need to talk to me? Did something happen between Evin and Maya?

Maya's definitely a very demanding person and can get very heavy handed with Evin. They mentioned that her parents were very aggressive towards her and I can see where she gets it from. That doesn't excuse her from treating Evin the way she does.

I want to get Maya as much help as I possibly can. She's been scarred by her parents in such a way she can't act properly around others. I'll always put Evin first and protect them from any harm, they are my little darling after all. But the thing with Evin is they're just letting Maya walk all over them, almost like she's in charge of every aspect of their life. I haven't heard them complain about it, however I don't know if that's because she's not allowed them to speak or if they're just happy with it... for some reason...

I guess sometimes when Evin's not being very nice, they're standing up for themselves. When does the not very nice turn into nasty though? Is the nasty just the meltdowns? Evin still needs strong guidance and help, any 17 year old would, but they need more. Hell, if none of us spoke to them on what they want to do for the day or what they need to do, they'd just spend their days lying around doing nothing.

I should probably stop eavesdropping before anyone catches me.

{Evin's POV}

M: Evin - listen. You're being extremely uncooperative these past few days and it's becoming incredibly stressful to deal with you.

E: [zoned out]

M: [progressively getting louder] Hey, hey! Evin!

E: [jumps] What?

M: Are you okay? You just completely zoned out there.

E: No, no, I'm fine. I was just... thinking.

M: Thinking about what?

E: [giggles maliciously] You don't wanna know.

M: [softly] Come on, tell me.
