After my discussion with my dad last night, I have made a decision to sit down with Maya and work through our emotions. The stories leading to her anger and the stories that repeat over and over with my meltdowns. We don't know the route of one another's issues - the roads have been slowly diverging from one another. One turn and we're out of our lives forever. If we work together, our lanes can merge and we can drive off together into the sunset. At least that's how I think roads and cars work.
I love Maya so much. No one has focused as much attention to my needs as her. She continues to educate herself so she can take care of me. She just doesn't tell me how she feels and it ultimately leads to physical scars. Any of my problems, I tell her. Despite all she's done for me, she's a real safeguard for me. I don't want to lose it.
In those moments I'm the only one awake, I look at Maya and just become overwhelmed with sadness. We used to stay up late laughing and making memories. Now I just find myself alone and upset most of the time. That original flare is now long gone. We just... we aren't who we used to be. Maybe as we've grown and approached and adulthood, we lost the giddiness you get when you're 13 and "dating". If anyone looked into our relationship from the outside, they probably wouldn't see the cracks. Our masking abilities create a false reality. Only a professional can really save us now.
E: [shakes Maya and whines] Rosie....
M: [wakes up] What is it Evin?
E: [pouting]
M: [sits up] What do you want? [thinking] I see. [touching face] Bad night?
E: [touches face] Oh my god... [looks at hand then looks at pillow]
M: [slowly gets out of bed] I have skin care stuff in the bathroom that'll help you. Come on.
E: [climbs off bed and walks into bathroom]
M: [looking through drawers] There's disinfectant somewhere in here.
E: [grinding teeth] Maya, can we?
M: Can we... no.
E: [giggling quietly] Please.
M: [firmly] For the last time Evin, I am not doing that.
E: [whining] Why?
M: Because... it's unhygienic and I simply do not consent to such a thing.
E: [fed up] Fine.
M: [begins to clean Evin's face] You better behave today or you will be in deep trouble, do you hear me?
E: [quietly] Yes...
M: [kisses] Good kid. Are we gonna get breakfast now?
E: Yes.
M: [softly] Why were you up late last night?
E: Just couldn't sleep.
M: Were you talking to anyone?
E: My dad.
M: And what were you two talking about?
E: [looks at floor]
M: Hmm? [lifts Evin's head] Tell me.
E: [looks at]
M: [squeezes soft spot]
E: [falls onto floor in fear]
M: I don't know why you're getting on like this. Tell me what you were talking about otherwise you're not getting any breakfast.
E: [curls into ball]
