Mondays are somewhat back to normal around here. Maya's gone to school, Abuelo and Abuela are sorting a rat problem and Olivia is designing a solution. Graham though? Picking up mommy, Vivienne and Eden. Val is taking the girls out for a day of science, so she's getting ready to head out. The sun only rose about 10 minutes ago, so I've been taking advantage of the quiet at home and the atmospheric conditions to scan for radio.
So far I've managed to pick up the BBC World Service, Radio Romania, a few pirates broadcasting across the world and a mesh of medium wave services from London and the Home Counties. Other than the noise from my radio, the atmosphere is peaceful. Some birds have found themselves on my roof adjacent to my setup, not startled from the random blasts of noise accompanying every turn of a button.
E: [taking note of radio stations]
Ma: [walking upstairs] Evin, [reaches rooftop and walks to Evin] are you coming for breakfast?
E: [hyper-focusing and speaking to self in Korean]
Ma: [getting frustrated] Earth to Evin!
G: [walks onto rooftop] You just gotta... emphasise. [raises voice] Evin!
E: [startled] Jesus, Graham. What's with the tone?
G: Are you coming in for breakfast?
E: [looks at time] Sure. [closes laptop and picks up technology before heading into the house]
{Graham's POV}
Ma: Isn't all this a bit dangerous?
G: The rooftop's fenced off and all Evin's doing is sitting in one spot. I can't see any harm.
Ma: What if it rains?
G: They know not to go up here in the rain. Evin's 18 now, the "grip" I have on them is very much gone.
Ma: You find that scary?
G: A bit. [feels rain drop] Ah, timely. Shall we go in?
Ma: I'd say so.
[both walk into house]
{Evin's POV}
E: [sets equipment on bed] Is there anything else I need? [aimlessly walking around]
Ma: [knocks ajar door] Evin, [walks into room and closes door] I need to talk about something.
E: [in Russian] I don't know what it is mother, but whatever it may be, I'm sure it's not within my best interests because of your stubbornness when it comes to accepting me.
Ma: Come again?
E: [trying to come up with something] What I'm trying to say is that [in Portuguese] I can't find one of my tools.
Ma: What tool is it?
E: Electric screwdriver.
Ma: For what?
E: I ordered replacement aerials that are much longer than the old ones, especially with it being darker earlier I want to take advantage of that to try and... [climbs on top of wardrobe] y'know... get signals further away. [throws skates onto ground]
Ma: [picks up skate] Radio? Skating? What don't you do?
E: [jumps off top of wardrobe] Go to school or gain qualifications. [walks to bed and places electric screwdriver on top]
Ma: Aren't you qualified in music?
E: Not on paper. I just don't want to do any of those music placement exams because at the end of the day, what sounds good to the examiner won't sound good to me. Besides, I have nepotism to get me by. [giggles] God I'm hungry. [walks out of room and heads downstairs]
