I can't help but still be annoyed at my dad for confiscating my stuff. He's given me my phone back for college but by doing that, I've found out something horrible - Maya's been abandoned by her parents. They've cut all contact with her and moved back to Milan in the early hours of the morning. She's been barely able to speak on the phone because of hoe much she's been crying. I don't know what's going to happen with her, but I know that she's officially moving in today rather than this weekend. Dad's taking today off work and bringing me to pick her up. I'm heartbroken for Maya - her world has collapsed right in front of her and none of it is her fault.

E: [rings doorbell]

M: [opens door and hugs Evin]

E: It's okay, just let it all out.

M: I can't believe they've actually left me. [crying]

G: We'll be here for you no matter what Maya.

M: Grazie Graham. Come on in.

[all 3 walk to living room]

E: What actually happened?

M: [sits down] I woke up for school as I normally do, when I realised they were away. They took everything - photos, food, their stuff... all that's left is me and my stuff. It's as if they, you know, just don't care about me anymore.

G: Why would they even do that?!

M: I'm not the child they want - my cousins are more their type.

E: So... because you don't want to be a banker or a lawyer... or a facist... they just abandoned you?

M: Pretty much. I know they were planning on leaving anyways, but not as soon as this. They lied to me.

E: [hugs] What should we do now?

M: I think I have no other option but to begin packing all of my stuff, but I'm really hungry. All I've had to eat was a cereal bar I just happened to have in my room.

G: How about I go get something for the three of us some food, bring it back here and you two get on with the packing?

M: [sniffles] Would you?

G: Anything for you Maya, especially right now.

E: [holds Maya's hand] Shall we get started?

M: I think so.

G: Give me about 20 minutes and I'll have this under control.

E: Okay papá.

G: Call me if anything else is needed. [gets up and leaves]

M: [looks at Evin] Where would I be without you?

E: I don't know Maya, I don't know.

I can't help but feel angry at Maya's parents. They've abandoned her with no sort of warning at all. I don't get their motives behind this whatsoever. Just what exactly do they have against her? Maya's passion is art and they weren't too happy about that. That couldn't be the reason though. Was it because she's gay? I know her cousins are quite homophobic, but her parents never really "showed" if they were homophobic. I couldn't think of another reason. She's never had a good relationship with them to begin with as they're always working. I can remember my dad asking me very early on if Maya had a relationship with her parents, so he at least knows what's been up.

This is the last straw. Maya's at breaking point. While we've been packing, she's not been able to stop crying as she keeps finding things that bring back deep memories for her. Who would've thought that something so small can be so sentimental? Little notebooks, keyrings from travelling, even small Polaroid photos. So many sentimental things for her. I'm angry, so angry. Why would you treat your child like this to begin with? Maya can't reach them whatsoever, so I'm assuming they've blocked her number.
