I should've been doing Empire tonight but quite frankly, my dad simply won't allow me. I'm effectively grounded, what the fuck. I've never been "grounded" in my life, at least not like this. I'm bored shitless already. I wanna go out, but everyone is making sure I don't. I'm already bored shitless. What is there for me to do exactly? I'm not allowed to make a new video, I'm not allowed on social media and I'm most certainly not allowed to rehearse for a show. Maya's confiscated my stuff because even she is serious with stopping me doing things I'm "grounded" from. Who does she think she is, my mother? Surely there is something for me to do? It most certainly isn't the most exciting day for me. I'm in a creative pit, there is nothing for me right now. It's just me and my diary. Always has been, always will be.
What exactly is Maya doing right now? She's been sitting on the bed with her camera for the last 20 minutes, occasionally taking a photo of something before returning to the bed. I'm watching her from the corner and she hasn't spoken to me once since she started. I daren't ask her, I don't know what will come for me if I do so. Me thinks she's just working further on her final piece for art, or perhaps it's her media magazine. She's in her world, and I'm in mine. Sometimes it is best that the two don't combine.
E: [looking out window]
M: [quietly takes picture of Evin]
E: [watching birds feeding]
M: [turns off camera] Evin?
E: [zoned out]
M: [smiles and sighs] I'll capture you one day. [places camera on table] I'm feeling kind of hungry, [walks to windowsill] would you like to have some lunch? [sits down and shakes Evin's leg]
E: [looks at in confusion]
M: Would you like some lunch?
E: Why is the world the way it is Maya?
M: What?
E: Why is it everyday that we just here more news about how someone has been stricken by poverty or some building has collapsed because profits are more concerning over safety of the people? Not to mention the increasingly threatening climate crisis we are facing, the widening wealth gap, and the funding crisis in the schools and other facilities here face everyday.
M: Evin, I-
E: What about the migrant crisis? What's being done to protect those who fled now from the racism they're facing everyday because of the sharp rise in ultra nationalism? Those nu-
M: [grabs Evin in frustration] Shut up! [smacks]
E: [smiles maliciously]
M: Why can't we just have some nice lunch without worrying about anything? Take your mind off the world, don't listen to the news for once. You're allowed to be disconnected from the social issues, give yourself a break for once.
E: [playfully kicks]
M: Hey now! Don't be doing that.
E: [reaches for Maya's chest]
M: [looks down] What exactly are you doing baby? [smiles] I think someone is a little hungry, huh?
E: [nods and smiles]
M: [happily sighs] Okay, we can get you some food if you so want to. [stands up] You're lucky we're home alone.
E: I just want a quick meal, nothing too time consuming.
M: [pulls up] Come on.
E: [climbs into Maya's arms and kisses]
M: Evin, I have a very important question to ask you.
