TW - Mentions of blood, acts of violence
Maya's up early this morning, like always, to get ready for school. This is her first day back after last week's events and she seems very eager to get back. I don't know what it is about her. She's able to thrive in an academic setting in such a way that I feel kind of jealous. Maya's academic success has always made me feel as if I'm in her shadow at school. She got continuously praised while I was told I had to "put more effort in" and should've "spent time learning it instead of messing around" instead of getting the appropriate help. Whenever I thrived in my own right, it wasn't really acknowledged. I guess me not being NT and able to follow the "Marino Way" brought me down an awful lot. You know what? They should rename themselves from just Marino High School to Marino High Grades Only School.
M: [kisses] Good morning baby. [rubs hair]
E: [curls up and smiles]
M: Are you going to get up yet?
E: [whispers] No.
M: It's half six now, so you can lie down for a little bit more, but you'll need to get up soon, okay?
E: [turns around in bed and goes back to sleep]
M: You know what Evin? I think you should probably start to wake up around the same time as me instead of getting all sorts of broken sleep, it might help you a bit better.
E: [fake snoring]
M: [sighs] I can't promise you much, but, [picks up] I can make you very happy. [carries to bathroom]
E: [wraps self tightly around Maya]
M: Your sister's done with the [sets on sink top] bathroom, so we have it to ourselves. [runs face cloth under water and then cleans Evin's face]
E: [whimpers] No... no...
M: Too cold?
E: [sniffling and nodding]
M: [runs under warm water] This might be better. [cleans face]
E: [stimming and looking down at floor]
M: [begins to brush hair] I won't be home until 5 or so today as I'm getting help from my teachers, are you coming straight home after college?
E: I don't know. It depends on what papá wants to do really.
M: Is he going to work?
E: Probably.
M: He might go to work, take a break to see your performance, then go back to work.
E: I know Brian's coming, so maybe I'm meant to be going home with him?
M: You are. I heard your dad talk tell you last night.
E: I must've already been... wait no I remember.
M: [hands hairbrush] Come on you, start getting ready.
E: Why?
M: Because I said so.
E: [sighs and starts brushing hair]
M: Val's making us pancakes and smoothies for breakfast.
E: [continues brushing]
M: Maybe after I come home from school, we could take a walk to the park to spend some time together? Would you like to go to the park later on?
E: [shakes head]
M: Why not?
E: I don't want to.
