Chapter 35 - Is This Worth It?

Considering we live in the middle of the countryside, night time can become a terrifying thing. There are very few street lights, animals are dominating the area and there's always the risk of a car hitting you due to the darkness. I'm simply just crossing the road, but it's so dangerous because it's night. Despite all that, I'm so glad I live here. We have clean air, plenty of green space, quietness, and a connection to nature.

B: [opens door] I guess this is good morning.

E: Yeah, I guess so too. [walks in]

B: [closes door] So, are you hungry? Do you want to have breakfast?

E: [thinking] I guess breakfast would be fine, yeah.

B: I'm feeling a bit hungry myself, so shall we grab some toast?

E: Sure.

[both walk to kitchen]

B: Did you have a good sleep at least?

E: I'd say I did - I mean, 10 hours, that's plenty y'know.

B: [making toast]

E: I take it the only consequence of me falling asleep for 10 hours rather than just one meant that I've ruined my sleep schedule once again. Violetta should be on soon since it's that late... or early. I don't know really. What is time?

B: Merely a concept that keeps us preoccupied.

E: Is this a psychology lecture or...?

B: Just common sense. And I think you mean philosophy.

E: One of those.

B: [serves toast] Would you like a drink?

E: Some milk please.

B: Coming up. [walks to fridge] Have you planned much for today?

E: [thinking] Just that song really, I know there's a few tweaks I want to do to it.

B: Ultimately it's your song, so whatever you want to do is going to sound good no matter what. [gives milk]

E: Thanks. [sips] There's a lot going on right now that I feel like this song is my only distraction from it all.

B: Must be hard going. How do you feel about it?

E: Honestly? I don't know anymore. One minute it's in control, the next minute I feel like I need an alkaline to neutralise the acid.

B: How do you come up with these comparisons?

E: Wikipedia.

B: Do you wanna watch TV while you eat?

E: We could probably catch that Violetta rerun.

B: [confused] Clear this up for me - Jade is still in love with Germán at this point but Germán is now with Priscilla who is Ludmila's mother and Jade is getting married to another person even though she doesn't seem to really love him yet?

E: Yes.

B: And where does Violetta come into all of this?

E: Germán "wasn't able" to attend the wedding so Violetta went instead to represent the family.

B: Who is she performing with?

E: That's Ramallo, Germán's best friend and business partner, and Beto, one of the Studio's teachers. They're in a band together with Olga, who's the maid, because they were rivaling over being with her but turned to music in the telenovela way.
