Dominick
The dark witches? The witches that we were told were evil and trying to destroy the moon goddess goddess? The witches that Logan and Whitt were working with behind our backs? Those dark witches? I was struggling to understand why anyone would trust them when they were the ones that tried to kill Logan, why would my sister trust them?
"Okay, this was bound to happen..." Yarah rolled her eyes. "Yes, we were called the dark witches, but we only want what's best of the balance and that is keeping you as far away from the moon goddess as possible. Yes we've all done things, but If we can get you back to your own reality your Alpha Logan can tell you all about it, though it's bound to be slightly different there. Right now we don't exactly have time." I was prepared for some animal to eat me not long ago, what else did I really have to lose?
"And you..." she pointed to Ferdinand, "we're going to need that trinket you have in your pocket." Ferdinand's whole body stiffened, "you can't have it." The witch walked straight up to him, her hand held out, "you mistake me, I wasn't asking." Despite everything, the corner of my twitched up into a smirk, she reminded me so much of my sister. Another hurt thudded through my chest as I remembered all that I had lost today. I needed to do something. Anything.
Yarah's group held their hands out to me and I took them. The warmth I felt from their combined unit was so unlike the cold I had lived in for the past several hours. It felt almost comforting and relaxing. Yarah was still arguing with Ferdinand, that was until she'd had enough and just ordered some of the witches to grab him. What was a human going to do against a whole coven? He stopped fighting back, aware that it was useless.
"How did you find me?" I asked Yarah as she started to open a glowing yellow pool of light with her hands, "we found Whitt's scent near your pack and yours was there with it. We just used that to channel a portal." The light was almost blinding and it grew to the size of the circle around it. "We were told that Alpha Dominick had died protecting his mate, but you didn't look very dead when we tuned up." No, I had, but it wasn't this version of me, "he did die, but it wasn't me." Yarah rolled her eyes, "obviously. That's how we knew something was up."
"Why me? I asked her? Who would kill me?" Yarah's eyes met mine, "in every reality you will save her and in every reality she'll die because of that. You can't be the hero of this story Dominick." Before I could say anything back to her, before I could ask who or what was meant to save us, the yellow light flashed and we weren't out in the open anymore, instead we were standing inside a dark cave, the only light was from little gas lanterns hanging every few yards. I'd been here before, it was the place that all of my witches had been. It was the home of the coven at my pack.
They walked straight through as if they already knew where they were going. We passed empty rooms and vacant hallways, it felt so normal to be back home that I could almost forget everything that had happened. Almost. I could hear whispering coming from the room in front of us, I knew that voice and I knew the person it belonged to. As we rounded the dark corner I could see shadowy figures against the wall. The whispering sounded much much like talking now and the voice had heard was unmissable.
"Elena?" I yelled rushing forward. Her head twisted and she had just enough time to get her balance before I pounced on her. Wet drops started to appear on the shoulder of her shirt, I hadn't even realised that I was crying. "Gosh it's good to see a friendly face." Elena didn't look friendly though, she detached herself from me and moved back slightly. "I'm sorry, it's just that my Alpha died... and it is a little strange to see you here like this." Of course, I was still getting used to the idea that I wasn't in the right reality.
"I'm sorry," I said, my hands shoving into my pockets "and I'm sorry for your loss. Obviously I understand how close you were. It's just weird for me you know?" She offered me a sympathetic smile, "I think everyone here could probably say that." Yarah was standing around a table not far away, when she saw me watching she signalled for me to come over. Dotted around the table were stones of different colours and a huge map in the middle.
The old crone rose from her chair when she saw me, "I'm glad she couldn't get to you." She told me. I wanted to correct her, to tell her about the Dom from this reality, I opened my mouth to do just that, but she stopped me. "It wasn't as easy with you. There's something different about you. She couldn't break you." Break me? What was she talking about? Had I done something different that all of the other's hadn't? She shook her head reading my thoughts, "your mate... she knew how to travel through the dream realm didn't she?"
I scratched at my head, "what does Emily dream walking have to do with anything?" The witches took turns to look at each other, each with shocked expressions. Yarah looked like a fish as she tried to find the words that wouldn't come out. The old crone took one last look at the witches around the table and then turned her attention back to me.
"The moon goddess took you from your reality so that it would play on without you, it's the only reality where she even stood a chance of taking you before you die. She'll kill you to kill Emily and in every reality she will kill Emily. "
Her eyes narrowed at me "Except yours it seems..."
