Dominick
She scratched her chin as she thought, "taking you out of the picture guarantees that she has at least one version of you that she can manipulate, but if she can't kill your mate, she can't manipulate you. Something is keeping your mate alive in your reality."
"What does that have to do with the dream world?" I questioned them, "why is that significant?" The old crone sat back in her chair, "because the thing that is keeping Emily Alive, is also the only threat to the moon goddess. She has never travelled through the dream realm in this reality." Never travelled to the dream world? Did I never teach her here?
"When I was looking for my sister I visited her and she was already awake in her dream. I'd never come across that before. She was tethering magic from Whitt and had been for years." I explained to them,"it made her capable of creating the portal into the dream realm. I didn't know she was my mate though, not until we met the moon goddess."
Yarah's mouth fell open, "we found Whitt at the Russel's house in this reality. We were the ones that handed her over to your pack so that she could take over as Alpha, we tried to limit the chance that the moon goddess would find you. We hired Logan's Beta to find her." Basker, she was talking about Baskerville. "You mean Logan's previous Beta?" I corrected her. Now it was her turn to look confused, "he's not still there?" I let out a sharp laugh, "we killed him for betraying his pack, he was dangerous."
Her eyes widened, "once we explained everything to Whitt, she was on board and everything went back to normal. She was meant to take over from you soon." That certainly explained how they seemed to know me, know their way around my pack and why everyone hadn't been fazed at the fact that they were here. But how did I meet Emily? Yarah read the bewilderment on my face, "you met her the night your sister met her mate. You both did the ceremony together."
The old crone waved her hand dismissing the conversation, "what's important is the fact that Whitt never left that pack. Her powers were siphoned to Emily and that means that she should be protected for the time being."
A terrible thought crept into my head, "you think that the moon goddess is buying her time while she searches for Whitt?" Yarah looked at me, her head inclined to the side, "She wouldn't know. I can almost guarantee that she doesn't know. This has never happened in any of the other realities...
Get rid of Whitt and she gets rid of Emily too and any hope of you destroying her." For the first time in this whole meeting Ferdinand opened his mouth, "what about the balance? You can't just kill the moon goddess." Yarah shrugged, "I don't know what the witches know in your reality, but we need to get you back there so that you can find out and help them."
The old crone shook her head quickly, "you can't go back expecting world war three, because if we are right, it won't have happened yet. You need to play along. Don't give her a reason to doubt you, but you need to get Emily the hell away from her." There was only one flaw in their plan... "she took me to this place, she knows what I've seen and she won't be the one taking me back. She's going to know something is up." The old crone smiled, "you'll be dream walking back Dom, she knows that you know how to do that. She doesn't know how strong you are though."
She had a point. The moon goddess had hardly asked me anything about myself, she didn't know anything about me and I could use that to my advantage. Yarah sauntered over to Ferdinand and plucked the amulet from his pocket, she gave him a wink for good measure. Elena walked over to the table with her and when all of the witches joined hands, the crystals started to shoot into the air one by one.
Elena turned to me, her voice sad, "I'm going to need to put you to sleep so that you can travel, but because you travelled with the moon goddess to get here and we are using her amulet to take you back, your body will go with you. You won't have to worry about waking back up in this realm."
"What about whatever had happened here?" I asked them. Elena swallowed, tears pricking at her eyes. "It's too late for us, but you still have a chance to beat her." I didn't say anything, I knew that anything I could say wouldn't help. I nodded at her and she took that as enough of an answer to begin. I slid myself onto the table and lay down on my back, my hands were shaking, I wasn't sure how this would go. Clearly no one had ever done this before because they had never needed to, I was the test subject.
"When you get to the dream realm, think of your mate-" Yarah told me, "it'll guide you back through." My heart swelled at the idea of seeing Emily again, but I was so confused. I had mourned the loss of my mate, I was still feeling the loss of my mate and in this reality it had been a truth... it had happened. But it hadn't happened to me, not yet. I had the chance to save my mate when every other version of myself had not. Tears stung my eyes as I silently thanked my sister, thanked their long friendship and thanked the dark witches in my realm for never finding her.
We were the lucky ones... and I wasn't going to go into this without remembering that. "Brace yourself!" The old crone shouted. The rocks above me started to circle, the speed increasing as Yarah handed me the necklace, "don't fail Alpha. It's the only shot any of us has." As if I needed reminding of that. It was all I could think about. The witches let out an ear piercing scream and the stones fell from the air, before they could hit me, a vortex of blue swirling mist shot through the air and sucked me into it.
There was nothingness. For a short while I couldn't hear or see anything, it was just emptiness. I thought I'd messed up, that we had done something wrong and this was the end of me, but all of a sudden I could see a faint orange light glowing in the distance. I recognised it instantly. It was the light that had always led me to the dream realm, which I now knew was the Sun God's light that had been gifted to the moon goddess.
I thanked my great ancestor Helios as he lit the way back to the big wooden door, back home... back to my mate.
