Logan

One thing i've learned from being a dog owner... I could always count on Storm to make me late for everything...

"Logan!" Misty shouted from the stairs, "the alpha's are coming!" Why did I do this? Why did I think that this was a good idea? "How long do I have?" I shouted back to her. I didn't hear anything after that. I suppose I just got my answer.

When we had decided to invite over the Alpha's, I thought it was such a great idea. What better way to unite all of the packs then do it at the same time? Now I realised what a mistake this would be. Peter hadn't even spoken to anyone since my Alpha ceremony and any hopes of Neil showing up were slim. Whitt would be standing in for Dominick and I didn't even know how to feel about that. The first time all of the alpha's would meet my mate and she couldn't even act like she was my mate. What a mess this was going to be.

Okay, so maybe I was being pessimistic, but I had no idea what I was doing. In all of the research that my father had done on the moon goddess and the sun god, he forgot to mention what exactly it was that I was meant to do with this 'army'. On one hand, Whitt had taken most of the stress of Yarah away from me. They were witches, they did witch things. Great. Perfect. But now I was meant to do Alpha things and I wasn't completely up to it.

"Storm! I'll be leaving without you!" I call down the hall. Since Emily had moved out, I had decided to use that room for Storm. Every dog deserved to have their own space, Storm was just a little pampered more than most. I could hear the tiny clicking of nails on the floorboards before he popped his head around my door. "Ready?" I asked. His head cocked to the side and I guess that was all the answer I was going to get.

"It's only a dinner party. It's only a dinner party. You've been to hundreds of dinner parties." It didn't matter how many times I told myself, I would still freak out. I was meant to be the Alpha, but right now I felt like the same kid that would go to his father when one of the other kids were mean. The door to my left cracked open and I saw a flash of red hair peek from behind it. "Psst!" There was only one person in my entire pack that would think it was okay to 'psst' the Alpha.

I quickly walked over to the door and pushed back the wood, "what the hell are you doing in the supply cupboard?" Rae shut the door behind us and flicked on the light. I was almost blinded as the light flashed to a stable brightness. "Can you please remind me why we are huddled up in a cupboard when I have some very important people to have dinner with?" I said, the annoyance dripping through my words. "There's something you need to know."

Well this didn't sound good.

"Is it really that important that you have to drag me into here when I am meant to be hosting?" She looked shaken up, she was trying to catch her breath, "it's about Emily and Dom." Goddess if I had a coin for every time someone wanted to speak to me about this that wasn't any of my business... "what about the-" before I could finish my sentence the door knocked behind me. "Logan, I saw you come in here, we need to go!" Misty sounded as furious as I felt.

"Hold that thought," I apologised to Rae, I really need to go, but let me know later? She looked at me with her jaw wide open, "this is important Logan!" I twisted the handle on the door, " so are the six alpha's out there ready for me to tell them whatever the hell i've called them here for." With that, I took a step out into the corridor and made my way to the dining room.

Everyone stood when they saw me come through the doors, I told them to sit down, "it's not a formal meeting like that. I don't need all of the pleasantries." Peter was first with the question I knew they were all dying to ask. "Logan I know why I'm here, but why do we have the rest of the packs here?" I reached into my pocket and plucked out the note that my father had stashed in the journal. One by one, they passed it around the table and one by one they slowly looked up at me. "Are you sure? Edmund the Alpha of the Eclipse pack questioned. "It's right there, my father hid the message so that no one would find it."

Lyla stood from her seat, the bump on her stomach clear as day, she wore it proudly as she made her way over to me. "Neil would want the same thing I do, and we have always been an ally to your pack." She looked down at the stomach she was cradling. "But Logan, we have a family to think of now and I don't see what preparing for a war that we don't even know will happen is going to achieve."

"There won't be a future for your child if you don't listen to him." Whitt argued from the other side of the table. I smiled at her sadly, I know she was trying to be there for me, but we were two or three against the rest. I did get it, if I couldn't give them hard evidence, how could I expect them to stand with me? But I could give them something, I could give them Yarah's years of work.

"You want proof?" They all hummed their approval of needing evidence. I snapped my fingers and a moment later the table was filled with books, pieces of paper and notes in all languages. "If you have all night, read through that." I smiled over at Whitt, I had no idea how she could do half of the things that she was able to, but she didn't even break a sweat. I was so proud to call her mine. Actually, that gave me a thought.

"Then, when you are done with that, I want you to formally meet Whitt, my mate." I motioned for her to sit by my side and she had the biggest grin on her face. If we were to fight and against the dark witches and die, if we were to fight against the dark force and die, at least I could say she was mine. She strutted across the room and picked the chain in my right. Looking out at the alpha's who were sitting with their mouths open, she muttered, "you got this, Alpha." I gripped her hand in mine and looked deep into her eyes, "no, we've got this, Luna."
