Chapter Eighteen - No hard feelings

"Why would she do that?! She said only five to ten minutes, and even we couldn't handle that time together!" Kanae scoffs. "She must've figured that, and locked us in here. Maybe even for longer than she said. You don't know Matsumae like I do, I knew she was plotting something...!"

Seidou scoffs rudely. "You should have said so sooner!" "I should have...but I didn't."

Seidou crosses his arms, tapping his foot. "Well...? Aren't you going to open the door?" Kanae wears a puzzled look. "Uh, how?" "Well your kagune, obviously! You can use it, can't you?" 

Kanae opens his mouth, hanging it open. Seidou raises an eyebrow. "What, did I say something wrong?" "I can't destroy the door! That's damage to the property! Do you have any idea how long, and how much, it takes to fix it up again?!"

The brunette shrugs. "Why should it matter? You did say that Matsumae has done this before, so how in the world did you get out of it?" Kanae scoffs roughly. "Uh, I waited? Duh, why would I need to break it down when I could just simply wait for her to come back? It would be way different if it was a hostage situation!"

Seidou scoffed lightly. "Well, it might as well be one..." Suddenly, a small snort and chuckle was heard from the younger male, and Seidou turns to him. Raising an eyebrow as he asks the male a simple question.

"Did...you just laugh...?" The young male blushed immensely. "N-No! I just...!" He sighs in defeat. "Fine, I guess it's fair... I admit... But don't you dare allow it to get stuck in your head!" Seidou chuckled lightly and weakly.

"Alright, I won't. I'm just a little relieved you can even chuckle, it means something to me, it truly does..." Kanae tilts his head. "What do you mean by that?"

Seidou scoffed. "Never mind, it would be very...corny..." "Corny? How so, are you going to get emotional?" Seidou shrugged lightly. "Kind of, but... You would probably get offended." Kanae scoffed. "Like I don't already get offended by you! Come on, we're stuck here, so we might as well get it out of the open."

Finally, Seidou caved and took a deep breath. "Well, ever since you've bought me, you treated me like...a nuisance." "Well I already knew that, so why-?" "Why do you?! I don't remember saying or doing anything wrong! Sure I've been a little snappy, but does that really call for you to treat me the way you do?! Do you even wonder who I was before?! Who I could've been?! Do you even care about knowing what I like and dislike?!"

Kanae frowns, lowering his eyebrows he leans towards the male. "Hey, why are you this upset? I thought you wouldn't mind, especially when I'm the only one treating you like that." Seidou sighs. "I..." Short memories flash before Seidou, and he places his hand gently onto his chest.

"Lately, I've been mistreated by certain people, and I never want to be treated like that again. Never! I don't expect us to be buddies or anything like that, but please understand, I just want an understanding."

Kanae stared at the male, his face wasn't that of annoyance, nor that of sympathy, but...neutral. As if there was no need for pity or anger, but respect. Kanae sighs. "Takizawa...did you tell Matsumae where you came from?" "Kind of...? I mean, she's really nice and I feel pretty safe with her, but still, there are some things I really can't share."

Kanae scoffs. "That's alright, it's not like it matters anymore. You're no longer there, you're here with us now. I guess we just wanted to know why you react the way you do, but...I guess we'll just have to learn to work with it."

Seidou stared at the younger male, still holding his chest gently. "That's very convenient, thank you."

Kanae scoffs. "And now that we're going to be honest here, that cloth...does not suit you!" "Wha-?!" "Honestly, if you wanted an eyepatch so bad, you could've just asked!"

Seidou's eyes widen. "You would've been okay with it...?" "Well sure, if you're that self-conscious about it, it would be just fine to get you one! Borg!" Suddenly Seidou covers his upper face, and chuckles weakly, enough to sound as if it was sounds of soft weeping.

"Are you you crying?!" "No, of course not! I just...didn't expect to hear that from you of all people." Kanae scoffed yet again, wearing a somewhat comforting smile. "Well, there's no need to cry over it!" Seidou clears his throat. 

"I already told you, I wasn't crying!" The younger male smirked, appearing smug. "Sure you weren't~..."

Seidou scoffed, changing the subject. "Hey, Rosewald, how did you find yourself working here anyway?" Kanae jolts up. "Why does that matter?! And where did that even come from?!" Seidou finally lets go of his chest, and relaxes his arms.

"Well I asked Matsumae, or at least a question similar to it, and she told me what she could. So, maybe I can know you better if I know more about what you're doing here yourself." Kanae sighs deeply, laying against the closest wall on his bed.

"I really don't see it necessary, also to mention I wouldn't share it with you, not yet at least..." "What-?" Kanae sighs a little softer, crossing his arms and moving his head back.

"Please believe me when I tell you it's nothing personal against you, I'm not that kind of person. It's just a story I have to feel comfortable telling, it takes time. And there is the fact that almost everyone in this household is aware of it, so again, it would be pretty pointless..."

Seidou nods his head. "I see... I think I can understand where you're coming from, I mean you understand why I can't share my experiences that much, so it only seems right."

Kanae sighs smoothly, sitting back up, crossing his legs and relaxing his head onto his hand. "You know what, you don't seem that bad... But don't you dare expect me to suddenly go all soft on you! I still need to do my part in training you and teaching you, since clearly Matsumae is babying you!"

Seidou blushes, holding his chest yet again. "H-Hey, she has the right to do anything she wants! And she doesn't baby me, she treats me like a person, not an object! Hell, she's...really worth protecting...you know?" Seidou's blushing increases as he went more in depth about Matsumae.

Kanae smiled. "Good, after all that is what I wanted to work on with you; 'to protect this household and the members of it'!" Seidou scoffed, looking down. "I-I don't know if I'm ready to protect your home yet..." "That's alright, I mean from what I've seen out of you, you need time."

Seidou sighs deeply, feeling the weight from his chest slowly go away. He begins breathing more visibly and calmly, letting go of his chest yet again. He sighs and looks up at the boy. "I'm sorry...for being a little rude with you..."

Kanae chuckles lightly and waves his hand. "Hey, you know you weren't the only one out of us to behave that way. You're not our enemy, so I shouldn't have treated you as such. I guess it was just the way you seemed to me... So...no hard feelings?"

Seidou stared at the younger male, as he reached out his hand. Seidou took a moment, he chuckled lightly and grabbed a tight hold of the offering hand, smiling warmly.

"No hard feelings."
