Keilani didn't know what to expect when she was called into the principal's office the Monday morning after opening night. She had never been called to the principal's office for something that she had done. There had been only a few times where she had gone in, and they were all incidents to do with the Glee Club that Keilani had very little part in.
So when Keilani stepped into Principal Figgins' office, she was surprised to find an entire crowd of people sitting in there, waiting for her. The first two people she noticed where Mr. Shue and Coach Bieste standing behind Principal Figgins' desk with their arms crossed over their chest, staring at Keilani in an almost solemn sort of way. In the two chairs in front of the desk sat Puck and Finn, worried about what was to come but not regretting their actions in the slightest. When she saw Daniel and two well-dressed adults sitting on either side of him, Keilani took a shaky breath and a subtle step away from the couch against the wall.
But the final two people in the room were the ones to shock Keilani the most. Her mom was standing behind another one of the chairs, simultaneously looking terrified, heartbroken, and furious all at the same time. In that chair sat Keanu, glaring furiously at the carpeted floor and sporting a busted lip and a black eye that he certainly didn't have when he left their house that morning. Keilani tried to catch his eye, but Keanu seemed to be avoiding her stare.
Keilani turned to Principal Figgins with a scared, wide-eyed expression on her face. "Why...why was I called down? I don't think I've done anything wrong."
Someone who was sitting on the couch scoffed, and Keilani saw her mom clutch her purse even tighter.
"You haven't done anything wrong," Coach Bieste said, sending a pointed look to the family on the couch. "There just seems to have been a...situation. And we need to know your side of the story about what happened after the West Side Story opening Friday night."
"But why are my brother and my mom here?" Keilani questioned, trying to ignore the feelings of panic brewing inside her. "They weren't there Friday night when...it happened."
Much to Keilani's shock, Principal Figgins explained, "Mr. Cabral and Mr. Jacobs were caught just now in a fight in the boys locker room."
She tried even harder to get Keanu's attention, but he was still staring silently at the floor, seemingly pretending she wasn't there at all. Keilani then braved a stare at Daniel, who seemed to be more bruised and battered than he had been Friday night. He glared back up at her, and Keilani quickly turned away, hoping no one was noticing her deep, panicking breaths.
"This is the second time in a couple of days Daniel has been beaten up by someone at this school, and you seem to be doing absolutely nothing about it!"
