Valentines Day had seemingly come early for the New Directions that year, as the only thing on anyone's minds seemed to be love and weddings. anyone seemed to be thinking about was love and weddings. After Mr. Shue announced that he'd be proposing to Ms. Pillsbury, all anyone in Glee club seemed to be thinking about was romance.

Keilani's mind was swimming with ideas of romantic gestures and the best ways to propose when she walked out of rehearsal that day. Sam – who had love on the brain but for a completely different reason than Mr. Shue's proposal – quickly caught up to her. "Ever thought about getting married someday?"

"Not for a long time," Keilani replied, smiling in an amused sort of way. "I want to get my career and life sorted out before I even think about spending the rest of my life with someone. Plus, there's the whole thing with having to find someone who loves me and actually wants to marry me."

"I'm sure that won't be hard, especially for you," Sam grinned, his mind wandering for a moment as he thought about a future with Keilani. "So...what's your idea of the perfect romantic gesture? Solely for research purposes."

Oblivious to what Sam's true intentions were and thinking he was just trying to get ideas for Mr. Shue, Keilani answered, "I've never really thought about that...I just know I wouldn't want it too big and elaborate. Preferably somewhere private too because I don't like the idea of a bunch of people watching it at once. I'd just want it to be sweet and meaningful. Maybe even a song too, if it's someone from the New Directions."

"Anything else?" Sam questioned, leaning his shoulder against the locker next to Keilani's and shifting himself so he was standing a little closer to her.

Keilani ducked her head out of embarrassment over what she was about to tell Sam. "I've always wanted to be given flowers," She admitted, her cheeks beginning to burn. "I've never been given any before."

Sam couldn't help but smile because everything she just described seemed so perfectly Keilani. "Trust me, a guy's going to get you flowers one day," Sam told her, omitting the part that he'd hopefully be the one giving them to her.

"Why do you need my idea of a perfect romantic gesture anyways?" Keilani asked curiously. "Shouldn't you be trying to figure out what Ms. Pillsbury wants?"

"I–uh..." Sam stuttered, not having had an answer prepared at all in case she asked this. "It's like I said. It's for research purposes."

Well, for Sam, it was for research. It wasn't, however, about Ms. Pillsbury in the slightest.

With a new confidence in his step, Sam walked down the McKinley hallway, grinning excitedly as he approached Finn, who did a double-take when he saw Sam's soaking wet hair and the red towel around his neck. "Dude, guess what? I just joined synchronized swimming."
