While Sam and Blaine were preparing to make the trip up to New York City, Keilani was planning a trip of her own up to Connecticut. Yale was having a Prospective Students week to convince undecided students and welcome new freshman before May when the decisions were officially due. Keilani had already sent in her acceptance of her offer weeks before and was planning on spending the next few days at Yale trying to get a sense of what her life might be like for the next four years.

No matter how much they wanted, neither of Keilani's parents could take all the time off of work to be there with her for the week. Keilani was originally planning on applying to stay with a student ambassador, but when Quinn heard that she would coming down for the next few days, she offered up her dorm.

Keilani was helping Sam pack his bag for New York City in the thirty minutes before Blaine was supposed to pick him up. She had partly come over because Sam was always a mess whenever he and to pack for anything, but also because he was panicking about his upcoming scholarship interview.

"The fact you got a scholarship interview is incredible!" Keilani attempted to reassure, trying to decrease Sam's nerves and get his excitement up. "While I know you're going to do great, I feel like I need to also reassure you that, in the unlikely scenario that this interview doesn't go to plan, it isn't the end of the world if you don't get into college. Sure, it opens up a lot of paths, but you can also take a bunch of other routes without needing college."

"I just hate interviews," Sam frowned, refolding his formal interview shirt for likely the fifteenth time as he tried to decrease the amounts of creases and wrinkles. "I don't like how someone's about to judge me based on a small conversation where they ask me a bunch of somewhat invasive questions. I feel like people think I'm stupid because I can't think of these great responses on the spot."

"Sam, you're going to do great in this interview," Keilani reassured as she helped him straighten out his shirt. "Be the best, but slightly more formal version of yourself. Like how you were when you met my parents for the first time."

"I technically met your mom when I sang at your sister's birthday party," Sam pointed out. "That first time I met both your parents officially was sophomore year prom, and I nearly shit my pants because I was so nervous."

"We weren't even dating at that point!"

"Yeah, but I already had a huge crush on you, and I'm pretty sure your mom and dad could sense that the moment I walked in the room."

"Okay, while that's adorable and kind of funny, it's not important right now," Keilani said quickly. "What's important is that I know you're going to do awesome in this interview. And even if you end up not being accepted in the end, just remember what my mom always said to me during application season – everything happens for a reason, and you will end up where you're meant to end up."
