With Regionals that very Saturday, Keilani would've thought that all her focus and worries would've been surrounding the upcoming competition. However, after learning of Blaine's plan to propose to Kurt, both her and Sam suddenly had a much more important priorities in mind.
"You can only do this once, so it has to be perfect," Blaine told the couple as they walked down the hallway together. "It has to be, you know, special."
"Are you actually talking about a marriage proposal right now?" Sam asked, and when Blaine nodded, his shock seemed to grow even more. "Dude, we're in high school! You're not ready to get married, and we're not letting you."
"Well, I'm not asking for your guys' permission. I'm already gonna to do it. What I'm asking is for your help about how to do this."
"Then, as your best friends, we need to remind you that just a few weeks ago, you were totally confused," Sam pointed out. "You didn't even know where Kurt stood with this Adam guy!"
Holding his hands up defensively in the air, Blaine stared pointedly at Sam as he remarked, "You know, I don't remember you being this introspective when you wanted to ask Keilani to marry you back when you thought the world was ending."
Keilani spun around to stare at Sam, her jaw dropping. "You what?"
"I thought about it, but then I didn't," Sam answered quickly, emphasizing that final part of the sentence so Keilani wouldn't go into full freak-out mood. "Neither of us want to get married young, and I know if I proposed, Lani would've panicked. And when Lani panics, I panic. It just wouldn't have gone well at all. How do you know this proposal is something that Kurt wants?"
"You can't just propose to someone because you want to," Keilani added, although she was still a little distracted from Blaine's revelation about Sam from before. "You have to make sure that the other person actually wants to be proposed to. Not only that, you two are way too young to get married. You saw how much of a disaster Finn and Rachel were last year, and they didn't even end up get married in the end!"
"Will you two listen to yourselves? You sound exactly like the rest of the world, saying 'it's not time yet.' Well, you know what? People like me have been hearing that for hundreds and hundreds of years. This is happening. I'm going to ask Kurt to marry me. And, Sam, not only are you one of my best friends, but I was kinda hoping you would be my best man. Keilani, I'm sure Kurt would want to make you and Mercedes to be his co-maid of honors."
Blaine stormed away from the couple after this, refusing to hear anymore of their protests over his proposal. After a few seconds, Keilani turned to Sam and quietly said, "I know we have much bigger matters at hand, but I kind of want to hear about this whole 'you wanting to propose to me last December'."
