Love was everywhere at McKinley, and Keilani kind of wanted to throw up.
She normally didn't mind love. Quite the opposite, in fact. Keilani was a sucker for romance, as proven by her affinity for romance novels and movies that made her swoon. But around Valentines Day, it seemed as if every time she turned a corner there was a couple excessively making out to the point where Keilani was tempted to show them nearest janitor's closet.
Plus, there was the teeny tiny detail that the guy she had stupidly managed to gain feelings for was dating another girl, and Keilani felt like holing up in a room every time she saw them together.
But that didn't really have an impact on anything. None whatsoever.
Mercedes knew better, however. She see Keilani's smile falter every time she saw Sam and Quinn together. It was always for a split-second, then Keilani would go back to her normal, beaming self. But Mercedes could tell that Keilani needed some sort of distraction. So she got herself, Kurt, and Keilani together for a sleepover at Kurt's house to try and vent about these feelings and enjoy some fun movies in the process.
Kurt seemed to be in a similar situation to Keilani. After encouraging Blaine to confess his feelings to his crush, Kurt soon discovered – in front of all the Warblers no less – that Blaine was planning on using the acapella group to serenade a Gap worker named Jeremiah.
"I was absolutely devastated," Kurt said as he recounted the story to the two girls. "It was probably one of the most humiliating moments of my life. And that's saying a lot."
Keilani, who had been focused for the past couple of minutes on braiding Mercedes's hair into a messy crown brain, looked up at him. "Well, did he ever say you two were dating?"
"Well...no."
"Did he ever make a move?" Mercedes asked, earning another shake of the head
"But we were always singing duets and he always smiling at me..." He trailed off in the middle of his sentence, finally realizing what the pair were implying, and his mouth dropped. "Oh my God, I made the whole thing up in my head didn't I." Kurt shoved the rest of the pizza he had just been chewing on in his mouth. "I hope I choke on this and die a slow, painful death."
"Absolutely not." Keilani snatched the pizza box off her bed and placed it on the floor so Kurt couldn't try it with any other slices.
Reaching over, Mercedes laid a comforting hand on his arm. "Honey, don't worry. I think we've all been there."
Keilani sighed and took a sip of her Fanta. "If it makes you feel any better, I feel like practically vomiting every time I'm in the choir room. You would've hated it. It's like every couple turned their normal PDA levels up fifty notches."
