The day had started off normally enough. Keilani spent the morning stressing over an English test and then ended up in the choir room at lunchtime with Mercedes, Mike, and Tina, trying out some good ideas for songs to perform at Regionals in a couple of weeks. All in all, she had been having a decent day.
But then there was some sort of massive shift in the universe the moment the bell rang, signifying the end of the school day.
Because they shared their final class together, advanced Algebra II/Trigonometry, Keilani would always walk with Artie to the Glee club after school rehearsal they'd have every day. The walk was usually relatively normal, albeit a few slushies but what was new for them. The two always seemed to have nice conversations together, and Artie liked how Keilani was always nice to him – even when he thought sometimes didn't deserve it.
As the two made their way down the hallway, they unknowingly walked straight into a trap of at least ten football players and Cheerios all holding a familiar red drink. Keilani tried to ram Artie through and use the force to break free, but they were packed so tightly around the pair there was no chance of escape.
Azimio held his drink forward and Keilani instinctively flinched back. "So I was going through my bucket list, and I noticed that you two are the only Glee losers I haven't slushied yet."
"What about the moral implications of hurting a girl and a kid in a wheelchair?" Artie asked quickly, trying to use any tactic possible to get out of the situation.
"Well we have several girls here with slushies at the ready," Azimio pointed out. "And I say equal opportunity for all."
And with that, every single slushie got dumped onto the pair. The Cheerios made sure to get close up and personal with Keilani to ensure that every bit possible landed on her, while the football boys were slightly more reckless, just making sure that their slushies hit them and not caring how much fell onto the floor.
When all the cups had been emptied and Keilani's and Artie's clothes were now stained with red dye, the group all burst into laughter and walked off, throwing the enormous cups in the nearby trash can as they walked away.
Keilani would have burst into tears right on the spot, but her face was still getting over the intense icy shock that she wasn't even sure that the tears could come out. "K, I don't think we can even really clean this off," Artie said below her, terrified and frozen from both the cold slushies and the ordeal.
"Let's just go to rehearsal," Keilani replied quietly. Shakily, she pushed Artie down the hall, the slushie dripping off their clothes and onto the ground. The pair heard a few giggles from people passing by, but they were more focused on trying to make sure they made it to the choir room.
