The Grease sign-up list was posted, and Sam was there almost immediately and had made Keilani and Blaine come along with him so they could sign to audition as well.
"As president and vice president, we can pretty much decree whatever parts we want, right?" Sam questioned aloud as he scribbled down his name on the list.
Blaine leaned his head against the wall and sadly mumbled, "I'm not sure I'm going to do the musical this year. I'm not in the right headspace to do a project like Grease." He crossed his arms over his chest and continued, "Since Kurt and I broke up, I haven't slept...I lost my appetite...I don't even gel on weekends."
"This is pretty serious then," Sam responded in a worried voice, looking to Keilani for help.
"Maybe this is why you really need to audition!" Keilani suggested. "You love performing, and maybe doing something that makes you happy will help you out through the break up. It doesn't even have to be a lead or anything like that. Me and Sam will totally be by your side for the whole thing."
"Kurt was my soulmate though," Blaine sighed. "We talked about spending the rest of our lives together. About retiring in Provincetown and buying a lighthouse and starting an artists' colony. And that Gilmore Girls box set I sent him was returned to me, unopened. He's gone."
"Dude, I get it, except for the lighthouse part." Sam clapped his hand on Blaine's shoulder. "But look, everybody's been there. You'll get through it."
Blaine shook his head and mumbled something about "just wanting to be alone" before giving the waving goodbye and walking off in the opposite direction. The two stared at him sadly as he walked away but they both understood that Blaine just wanted to be alone for the time being, so Sam and Keilani decided to catch up with him later and make sure he was okay.
As Keilani scribbled her name down on the list, Sam remarked beside her, "I still think you should audition for Rizzo."
Keilani shook her head. "You know me. I'm totally not cool enough to play Rizzo." When Sam looked like he was about to protest, Keilani added, "Plus, Unique mentioned that she's auditioning for the role, and she'd absolutely kill it."
"If I get Kenickie–"
"When you get Kenickie–"
Sam couldn't help but smile at the sureness in Keilani's tone of voice. "Pinkie promise you'll help me with lines? And knock me out with your car door again for practice?"
Keilani interlocked her pinkie with his and beamed. "I won't do that second part, but I will pinkie promise to helping you out with lines anytime of day."

After noticing Finn's doubts when it came to directing, Artie had called in Mercedes Jones and Mike Chang to help with putting together the school musical. When Keilani had first noticed Mercedes standing in the middle of the McKinley hallway, she thought she was just seeing things and that Mercedes couldn't actually be there.
