Dancing around the room with Mercedes and Tina, Keilani found herself laughing hysterically at the stupid dance moves they were creating. Despite the loss of Kurt the previous week to Dalton Academy, the room was electric with anticipation for Sectionals and what Mr. Shue's plan was going to be. Even though most of them figured that the setlist would end up being the Rachel and Finn show, it was still exciting to see what songs they were going to be doing.
What Mr. Shue had in mind, however, was not what anyone was expecting.
"Wait so Brittany and Mike are dancing behind me while I sing my solo?" Rachel questioned immediately after Mr. Shue revealed that the two would be featured in the performance, prompting Keilani to groan quietly and roll her eyes.
"You're not getting a solo at Sectionals, Rachel."
Keilani couldn't help it. She burst into loud laughter, not caring that Rachel was staring at her with murder in her eyes because it was honestly so satisfying seeing her get put in her place like that. Mercedes shushed her, knowing that if she kept this on Rachel would outright strangle her, but she found herself giggling as well at Rachel's outrage.
When Mr. Shue revealed that he wanted Quinn and Sam to take the lead for the ballad, Keilani finally calmed herself down enough to turn around and give the pair a big thumbs up and a smile. "Congrats!" She mouthed silently, not wanting to detract from the conversation happening up in the front.
"Ken and Barbie?" Rachel asked, clearly outraged. "Are you trying to throw this?"
"You used to be sort of unlikeable, but now I feel like punching you every time you open your mouth," Quinn retorted, causing a few more people in the room to giggle.
"Okay, listen," Mr. Shue interjected. "I have talked the talk about everyone in here feeling special for over a year now but frankly I haven't walked the walk. We've got a lot of talent here, and I'm going to highlight it."
Finn stood up at the urging of his girlfriend in an attempt to win back their spots as the vocal leads. "Look, I'm all for pumping up the team, making everyone feel special, but that's for practice. You don't take the star quarterback out before a big game."
"Easy to say when you're the star quarterback," Tina said behind him, earning a few mutters of agreement from people in the room.
"This isn't just about me. This is about the team."
"You such a hypocrite." Santana replied, not wanting to resist the opportunity to get involved in this argument.
Rachel snapped her head back to argue directly with Santana. "Like you even know what that means."
