With Regionals only two weeks away, the New Directions were amping up their rehearsals and stress in preparation for the competition. Normally, before choir rehearsal, the teenagers would spend their time talking about something funny that had happened tot hem that day or ranting about their teachers. But as Mr. Shue walked into the choir room that Monday morning, he couldn't help but notice the only thing they were talking about was Regionals – whether it be the music, the choreography, or who they would be going up against

Unfortunately for them, Mr. Shue had an announcement about the last thing that he knew would make the Glee club even more stressed than they already were.

"Guys, we have a problem. Her name is Frida Romero. With Regionals only a few weeks away, I went to scout out the competition. The Hoosierdaddies have a secret weapon. She's a tiny, little sophomore, never competed before, but her voice could fill an arena," He explained, causing the students to look around at each other nervously. "The only way to beat them is to be huge. I'm talking stadium-huge. Epic songs that will blow the heads off of 100,000 people at time."

Immediately after Mr. Shue's statement, the lights chose the perfect moment to shut off. Keilani thought it was just an issue with the choir room lights and it would turn on in a few seconds, but when she saw that the lights were off in the hallways as well, she realized that the problem was likely going to last for a lot longer than she thought.

The moment the lights went out, Sam panicked and yelled, "Zombie apocalypse!"

"Or Beyoncé's half-time show," Unique suggested with a laugh.

The school's P.A. system then came on with a click, and Principal Figgins' voice came crackling through the speaker. "Children, this power outage is not an emergency, nor is it an excuse to going wilding through the hallways. While we're investigating the root of this near calamity, classes will continue and your brains are to remain in the on-positions. If the darkness persists, candles and flashlights will be distributed based on grade point average."

Sam leaned towards his girlfriend and whispered, "Lani, if it's based off of GPA, you're kind of my only hope for a flashlight."

With a small smile, Keilani unhooked a keychain from her backpack and Sam grinned when "Well, you're really lucky that I have this tiny flashlight keychain that we can survive off of, too."

Kitty gaped at the sight of the small light in the back of the room. "Do you carry everything in that backpack of yours?"

"It's just a small kit for emergencies," Keilani answered, holding the minuscule flashlight up in the air to show off to the rest of the room. "If anyone needs anything, there's a 90% chance I have it somewhere in my backpack or in my locker."
