-Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Four-

"Oh...um...did you see anything, Robin? Skylar?" Nami asked, quick to look between the older woman and me as if wanting reassurance that she wasn't possibly seeing things.

"No" I shook my head.

"Nope, sorry, can't say that I did" Robin answered, shaking her head as well.

"Are you sure it wasn't a monkey or something?" Zoro asked, crossing his arms.

"A monkey?" Nami muttered as she thought over his suggestion. "Yeah, I guess..." she slowly nodded, sounding almost rather content with the belief that all she had seen was something as harmless as a monkey.

"Do monkeys even exist up here?" I asked. It was a reasonable question considering that we haven't seen that many animals wandering about up here so far saved for mainly various fish and a fox.

"I don't know" the two truthfully admitted as they shrugged.

"I'm sure there are" Zoro said. "If they have fishes and foxes then surely they have monkeys up here" he reasoned.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense..." I slowly nodded.

"So, what do you think? Maybe we should check out the other shore?" Robin suggested, motioning toward the land across from the river, seemingly still wanting to cross it despite what had happened earlier.

"Forget it! I told you, I'm not getting attacked by those sharks again!" Nami frowned.

"Here we go again" Zoro groaned with the roll of his eyes.

"Please, don't start, either of you" I softly huffed, quick in wanting to shoot down any chances of another fight breaking out.

Walking again in peaceful silence, it wasn't long before we came to the mutual decision to stop and rest for a bit.

"Hey!" Nami jolted as a sudden and very loud noise echoed through the air. "You hear that? What do you guys think that was?" she warily asked.

"I don't know..." I muttered as I cupped my ears and tried to listen closely for the sound in case it happened again.

"Quiet—don't move!" Zoro suddenly ordered, tightening his hold on his swords as he began to cautiously look around. "I've had enough!" he snapped in frustration the minute a giant alligator shot out of the water and fell straight toward Nami who started to scream in utter fear. I couldn't help but burst out into a fit of laughter as I watched the swordsman punch the large predator away from us all—it seems he was in the mood in using his fists today.

"What a day, huh?" Robin questioned, resting her cheek against the palm of her hand as she tilted her head.

"You're telling me" I chuckled. "Either Nami's got some terrible luck or she's cursed."

"Try to be more careful" Zoro said to the shell-shocked ginger, now calm after being able to let all of his earlier frustrations out on the alligator he had just punched.

"Yeah...uh...sure..." she weakly mumbled.

-Later-

I did my best to keep myself balanced on the log we were crossing, arms stretched out on either side of my body as we slowly inched our way forward. Quietly did I listen to the sounds of the forest around me in an attempt to distract myself and keep from looking down at the raging river below that was just swarming with deadly fish. Despite how nerve-wracking the whole experience currently was...I couldn't help but take a second to admire just how breathtakingly beautiful this place was. So clearly untouched by man and left to grow naturally.
