I Need to Go

Antonio's POV

I'm sitting here at the district, talking with the Intelligence Team as we listen to Hank when I heard my phone go off. Since we are in the middle of a case, I decide to ignore it since my job is more important. I saw it was Matt but thought it was just a mistaken call. That was until I saw her call again. I looked at Voigt and sighed, knowing he was not pleased.

"Sarg, I need to take this. It's Matt and Gabby. We both know they wouldn't call me at work twice in a row if it wasn't an emergency." He nodded before I grabbed my phone and answered. "What's up Matt?" I then heard my sister's voice. "Antonio, did you guys hear about a fire around our area down at the district?"

I started getting worried. "Yes, we get notified about all the fires." I then heard tears in her voice. "We lost it all Tonio. All of it." I then realized what she meant. Her apartment was gone. "I'm coming Gabby! You guys can stay with me. I promise! See you soon!" I looked at all of my co-workers who were staring at me after hearing me yell.

Halstead spoke up first. "Everything okay with Matt and Gabby?" I felt bad for them and teared up for my baby sister. "Their apartment just burned down." They all stared at me, shocked. "They need a place to live and I need to go Voigt." Voigt looked at me and nodded. "Go be with your sister and send our best. Well, the department's best. I know Matt hates me."

I nodded. "I'll call you when I figure out what we're going to do." I went and grabbed my things before grabbing my car keys. I made my way out of the district before running to my car and racing to Matt and Gabby's apartment. And even though it wasn't that far from the district, the drive felt like it took forever because of how worried and scared I was for them.
