Same Landlord, New Apartment

Gabby's POV

As I listened to Matt talk to our landlord, I couldn't help but get excited at the thought of having our own place again. Sure, I love living with Antonio but...me and Matt are married and this is not where I want to live. We just need to have our own space again and I am glad we are going to have it in a new apartment. Hopefully, with the same rent.

That's when I heard Matt come back. "Okay, so you are offering spaces in your new building to the tenants of our building. However, I just have one more question...I saw the rent was a lot higher than the old place." That's when I started to get worried, this was really a deal breaker. We can't afford more than what the rent is already.

"Frank, c'mon. I've been a tenant there for almost a decade. Why can't you offer me a place ahead of the waiting list? Your place with my home burned down." I could tell that is was not going well. "Oh that's why we can't. You only have 3 bedrooms available and they cost more. Can we split the difference? Situations have changed recently."

Matt was playing the baby card, great. "Yes, we just had a kid so...the budget is a little tighter now. I get, it's hard. But...I can always help with maintenance I guess. You know I am a contractor." I hoped that would make the difference because, maybe it could help. "Okay then, so as long as I can help with the maintenance and pay 1.5x the rent of my old place, I can have a 3 bedroom." I smiled, hoping the answer would be yes.

"Thanks, that sounds great. You won't regret this. Bye Frank." I smiled when he hung up. "So..." Matt smiled at me and yelled. "We got an apartment. 3 bed, middle floor with a view of river. Private parking and we can move in September 30th." I smiled as I got up and went to hug him. "That's awesome baby." I kissed him and smiled, having yelled. Antonio then ran down.

"Can you keep it down? What's happening. You okay Gabby?"
