It was a message from Karol.

"I heard your brother helped you out with your car. If it's done, you want to take it for a spin? There's an event going on in town. Who knows, you might be able to catch some attention from higher ups." Karol said, including a winking face.

"What time is the event?" Evelyn texted back.

"A bit later today, maybe ~4 PM." Karol responded.

"Won't miss it." Evelyn sent back, tucking the phone back in her pocket.

She stretched and sat down at the kitchen table, when Qrow woke up and came out to have breakfast with them. She ate quickly, excited to take her newly modified car for a spin, before hurrying out the front door to her car. If she wanted to compete in an official Event, she had to learn what her car could and couldn't do, what its strengths and weaknesses were, and so on.

She hopped into her car, which had wonderfully comfortable new seats in it, the whole thing having practically gutted and built from the body up. The standard black paint was kind of boring and a little damaged though, since it was an old car. Maybe she could get a wrap, something that stood out, without looking gaudy. But there was plenty of time for that later. Right now she had to get her car started, and get it to the track for some practice before the race.

She inserted the key and turned it, the engine letting out a roar so beautiful it almost aroused her. She shuddered with excitement and adjusted the driver's seat to accommodate her height, as well as the mirrors, and all those necessary first time things, then once it was all in order, she pulled out of the garage and headed toward the track the event would be on later this evening.

But it seems she wasn't the first one. A Supra was also there, the driver sitting on the hood of their car, presumably taking a break after a few practice runs.

She pulled up to the track, recognizing the driver the second she pulled up. She stopped next to him and rolled the window down.

" 'Sup? Interesting to see you here~" Evelyn said playfully.

"New phone, who dis?" He asked jokingly before adding "Yep, I remember you. From the parts shop, right?"

Evelyn giggled softly. "Mhm, that's me. I came by to test it out for the first time..."

"Well then, I'll be on the edge of my seat to see how you do." He said with a smirk.

Evelyn smiled and hopped back into her car, bringing it to the start line, Royal picking up the switch for the traffic lights, flicking them on.

She took a deep breath as she did her burnout and waited for the lights to go down to green, then used her launch control to shoot off the starting line.

It hopped off the line nicely and sped off. Not the fastest car in the world, but it could be worse.

She brought her car back around to the line and Royal smirked.

"Not too bad. Why don't I get Ox down here to time your runs?" Royal asked.

"That'd be great, sure. I'm guessing Ox is a friend of yours?" Evelyn replied.

"Yep." Royal said, pulling out his phone. "Hold on while I call him. Shouldn't take long." Royal added, tapping a contact in his phone, auto-dialing the number.

He spoke with Ox for a few moments before hanging up, the two of them waiting for him to arrive. Luckily, it wasn't long before a red Nissan 180sx with some black details parked outside the track, heading over to greet them and bring him over to her.

They seemed to chat about something as they walked over. When Ox was closer, he looked over at her.

"GOT-DAYUM!!! Royal, you didn't tell me she was so damn fine!" Ox said.

Evelyn blushed and giggled softly. "Thank you, you're not too bad yourself." She replied with a smile.

"Wake the fuck up, Samurai. We've got a job to do." Royal said, patting Ox on the shoulder to get his attention.

"Ah, yea. Right." Ox replied, snapping out of it.

Evelyn giggled again and Ox got into position to measure her time as she got in line to start driving.

The lights ticked down the tree, and her launch control system shot her off the line quickly.

"Looks like 7.25." Ox called out.

"Not the worst, but it could be better. Maybe with a bit of tuning you can get it down a little further." Royal replied.

Evelyn smiled sweetly and tested out her car a few more times before it came time for the event.

Eventually, Karol pulled up, along with a lot of other people, getting set up for the event while Evelyn took her car to the racers' parking area, filled out a form, and waited.

Surely enough, it didn't take long for the stands to be filled, and the races to start. Evelyn made herself comfortable and enjoyed the music that played while she waited. It seemed Karol had a decent taste in music, for sure.

She was called up for her first actual race, and her tail wouldn't stop thrashing. It was a little embarrassing for her to admit, but she was pretty nervous. She pulled up to the line and got ready.

She took deep breaths, and watched the traffic light slowly flash to green, before speeding off the line, the launch control taking her off the line, then accelerating from there. She heard some cheering, and noticed the other car behind her. She had won her first race. It felt exhilarating as she pulled back out into the lot to wait for the other races to pass. She was called back out four or five more times, winning each one.

She met with Royal and Karol once it was all over, beaming with excitement.

"You did pretty damn good out there." Royal said, which made Evelyn blush a little as she nodded.

"Mhm... Thank you." Evelyn said.

"And here's your winnings. Keep it up, and keep on tuning your car, and eventually you'll have a reputation to be feared." Karol replied, handing her an Envelope.

"Thanks. I'll make sure to keep working on it. See ya later!" She replied, taking the envelope and tucking it into her jacket. She hopped into her car and drove off.

Royal and Karol watched her leave as Ox sprinted over to them, skidding to a halt, bent over with his hands on his knees, panting like he couldn't breathe.

"Wh-where'd she go?" Ox asked.

"Just missed her, playboy~" Karol teased.

"Dammit! I wanted... To get her number..." He replied, still panting.

"Bro, she's out of your league, by like a hundred miles per hour." Royal joked.

Evelyn smiled to herself all the way home, parking her car and hoping she hadn't disturbed anyone as she headed inside. The lights were off, but the TV was still on, a DVD idling on the main menu as Qrow and Hana had fallen asleep cuddling together on the couch.

Evelyn giggled softly and turned off the TV and the DVD player for them, and tossing a light throw blanket over them, since it was pretty chilly tonight.

Qrow opened his eyes halfway, stifling a yawn so he didn't wake Hana.

"You look like you had fun... Wild night?" Qrow whispered sleepily, not wanting to wake Hana, who was currently holding onto him loosely. He gently removed her glasses from her face, setting them on an end table without waking her.

"It's been so long, I forgot how lightly you sleep. You could probably hear a pin drop. But yeah, I had a good time. You two look like you had a nice date, yourselves." Evelyn whispered in response.

Qrow smiled sleepily to Evelyn, then looked down at Hana to smile lovingly to her as she slept.

"Well, I'll leave you two to sleep." Evelyn whispered.

"Sweet dreams." Qrow replied softly, stifling another yawn as he closed his eyes and cuddled Hana, going back to sleep.
