One night while I was cuddling with Vanilla I heard a knock on the window (Because the metal shutters are on the inside and you can't knock on the security door very well so it's best to knock on the window. "Ugh. Hmmm I guess I gotta go check who it is." I said, with a groan. Since I don't really have to guard the shop at night anymore I started adjusting my schedule to the day shift and sleeping during night and staying awake during the day and especially after we got mugged, so when we're on walks down the street or out on a delivery I keep extra careful to look out for just about anything that seems suspicious in case something happens, and I always keep my shotgun in hand in hope it might scare off anyone who might try to attack us. I went downstairs to check who it was. It was Coconut. I let her in and went upstairs to see if Kashou was asleep yet. He wasn't so I told him Coconut was downstairs and wanted to talk with him. When she was done I let her back out and locked the door behind her and went back to cuddling with Vanilla. She sleepily rubbed her eyes. "Who was it?" she asked. I told her it was just Coconut and she wanted to talk with Kashou. "Okay then come back to bed.~<3" she replied, tired. "Okay~<3" I said lying back down with her. A short while later I fell asleep with Vanilla in my arms. When I woke up Vanilla was still asleep, I carefully got up trying not to wake her up and put my trench coat over her to keep her warm. I went downstairs and unlocked the window shutters and pushed them back up and then unlocked the doors while everyone got ready to go and customers started coming in one by one. Once Kashou came downstairs I sat down in my chair, You might've thought I was just sitting there but I was actually watching everyone without them noticing in case something happened. With this many people around you wouldn't expect someone to try something, but you never know. And if someone did try something they wouldn't expect me to notice fast enough when in fact I would probably be a few steps ahead of them ready to shoot them as they were pulling out a weapon. There were some shady looking people, but everything went fine, and I had some time to relax. I was extra careful to make sure nothing happened especially after our incident... I left my shotgun with Kashou after briefly but carefully instructing him how to use it if he needed to while I was gone, and told him I would be away for a few days because this town didn't have a gun store, so I had to go to the nearest other town that had one. I picked up a couple gun cleaning kits and several cans of gun oil and picked out a .44 revolver and went to get it added to my gun license which allowed me to carry it around legally. It was added successfully and I headed back home. It took a couple days because I had to go kinda far but I made it back. When I came in Vanilla rushed up to hug me. I hugged her back, and then picked her up. "I missed you. <3" she said cheerily. "I missed everybody but I missed you most of all." I said with a smile. She saw the new gun holstered at my side. "Why would you need another one?" she asked me. "You remember during the incident when the guy who caught you and Chocola mentioned me not wanting to shoot at him because it would kill both of you too?" "That's because like he said my other gun is a shotgun which, rather than firing a single bullet it fires out a lot of pellets which spread out to either hit one thing a lot if close enough, or if far but not too far away it can hit many targets. This one fires a single bullet at a time and is more accurate. It would also make less of a mess if I had to shoot someone again and can if fired in the right area for example someone's shoulder it will severely wound them but if they get to the hospital fast enough they would survive." "Oh so you can protect us better, in fact if you hadn't had that baseball we probably would be dead" She said. "Oh yeah While I was out I also grabbed a couple new knives, a block of wood, and a sharpening stone. That butterfly knife was kinda old and starting to get dull." I said pulling out a couple knives that were strapped to the back of my belt so you couldn't see them. They were big enough that to someone of Azuki's size (remember she's the shortest of all of them.) it would qualify as a short sword. I slipped the knives back into their sheathes and walked upstairs with Vanilla and after I put all my new stuff on the rack to join my shotgun I sat down on the couch and had Vanilla sit on my lap, deciding to take some time to relax. It wasn't long before Vanilla fell asleep and I carefully adjusted myself so that I was laying down with her curled up on my chest. When I had arrived home it was rather late so I decided to go to sleep too and did pretty quickly.
