We were all taking a walk along our usual path when someone sprinted by. Vanilla fell to the ground and I could no longer hear the jingling of my wallet chain. I felt my scalp and the base of my tail get warmer and the space around me was a bit brighter. I chased after the thief and tackled him. I slugged him and took back my wallet. I picked him up and slung him over my shoulder, carrying him back to everyone else. I looked down at Vanilla, still on the ground. I realized what he did, he punched Vanilla on the way by. I dropped him onto the hard pavement and slugged him several more times. His face was a bloody mess. "Doesn't that hurt...?" Kashou asked. Everyone looked on, astonished. "Doesn't what hurt?" I asked. I saw a wisp of purple flame drop down in front of my view, acting similarly to how my bangs would. I pulled a hand mirror out of one of my pockets. I looked into it. In place of my normal black hair and ear fur, were purple flames, taking on an appearance similar to that of my hair. It wasn't opaque, but you couldn't see my scalp through it. It was bright, but not hurtful to the eyes. I looked down expecting to see my tail, but in its place was another purple flame, taking on the shape of my tail. I shook my head, freeing myself from its mesmerizing grasp. "Vanilla are you okay?!" I said, gently scooping her up. There was a large cut on the side of her head. I pulled out some gauze and bandaged up the side of her head. She was unconscious and I felt the light fade around me. I hugged Vanilla, tears welling up in my eyes. She drowsily opened her eyes. She groaned in agony and rested her head on my shoulder. "My head... Hurts so bad..." Vanilla said. I handed her some household pain medicine and my canteen. "That helped a bit..." Vanilla said drowsily. "Do you remember what happened?" I asked. She looked like she was wracking her brain. "No... I don't... Who are you?" Vanilla asked. I was heartbroken. I sat down on the pavement with her in my arms. "No... You have to remember!" I said, tears overflowing from my eyes. "I'm your husband Qrow. Please! You have to remember! I don't know what I'd do without you!" I said with a pleading expression. I gently stroked her head, the same way I did every time. "Mom, you have to remember Dad!" Raven said, crying. "As much as I want to, I can't remember," Vanilla said. I gave her a long kiss, straight from the heart. "You have to remember, if you can't remember me, remember this; I made you this rose in a blacksmith's shop near the bakery," I said, pulling out the metal rose. I continued pulling out stuff from over the years, trying to jog her memory, but it didn't work. I carefully stood up, picking up Vanilla and handed her to Kashou. "Hold her for me please," I said to Kashou. I drew one of my huge combat knives. I knelt over the man that assaulted her and raised my knife in both hands. He came to, only to see me above him with my huge knife. "NO! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!" He shouted. "You killed her... (On the inside, he means the Vanilla he knew and loved was dead.) Now you must repay your debt in blood," I said, kneeling over him. My hair turned into purple flames again. He continued to beg and plead for his life. I began bringing my arms down to wedge the blade straight through his chest. I felt someone tackle me, softly pressing their lips against mine. I stayed in their embrace and just lay there for a while. "I remembered. I love you Qrow," Vanilla said. "Oh thank god... I don't know what I'd do without you Vanilla." I said, pulling her close. The flames went from purple to a bright shade of pink. "True love does burn brightly after all," Vanilla said with a grin. "I'm glad to have my Vanilla back," I said, giving her a kiss. We brought Vanilla to a hospital and she was tested to see if she had any problems functioning properly. It was confirmed that she did have a notable degree of Myopia. (Fancy term for nearsightedness.) They handed us a prescription to get her some glasses or contacts. We looked through the selection of glasses they had and came across a pair she liked.

(Like those, but with silver frames.) Since we humanoid cats don't have human ears, just the cat ears on top of our heads, I pulled out some clear elastic and tied it to the frames, measuring it so it would hold the glasses on Vanilla's face firmly, but not too tightly. She put them on. "Much better," Vanilla said. "You look really pretty," I said. "Thank you," Vanilla said, blushing. I gently rubbed her head. I drove her back to the shop and we curled up in the bed together. She nuzzled up against my chest and I gently rubbed her head. I kissed her and we cuddled for a while. Vanilla yawned and decided to sleep for a while. She changed into her pajamas and curled up on the bed. I was feeling rather sleepy as well, so I rolled onto my side and pulled her up against my chest and we soon fell asleep. I woke up and slid out of bed, being careful so I wouldn't accidentally wake her up. Raven came into the living room and stretched. "Feelin' better?" I asked. "Yeah, I healed up. I'll have some scars, though." She said. "At least you haven't taken after me in that regard, at least not yet," I said. "Perhaps it might fade, some do, some don't. Bullet holes likely won't, though." I said. "Be glad you aren't in pieces like your old man," Royal said, walking into the living room. He sat down on the couch and Raven curled up with him. I smiled and gently rubbed Raven's head. Vanilla walked into the living room and suddenly looked like she was going to faint. "Are you okay?" Raven asked. "No, I'm most certainly not okay," Vanilla said. I called a taxi service. I pulled on my boots, not bothering to grab a shirt. Vanilla pulled on her shoes and I helped her out to the taxi. There were two other people in the car, a woman, and another man wearing a hoodie with his head down. I sat down in the middle and Vanilla sat next to me. The woman looked over at me and seemed enamored by my muscles. She practically wrapped herself around me. She gently pulled my tail into her lap and started gently petting my tail. "Doesn't this feel good?" She whispered sensually. "Can you please not try to seduce me? That'd be great thanks." I said, hugging Vanilla. Vanilla cuddled up against me and started purring. I smiled and scratched her head. "But she can?" She said, seeming disheartened. "Of course she can, Vanilla is my wife," I said. Everyone continued to talk for a while. I noticed the guy sitting in the passenger's seat start to pull a gun from his pocket. I was faster. I drew my revolver and held the barrel against his head. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," I said. "I'd really prefer 1: Not to splatter your brain all over the inside of this nice man's car, and 2: Not to deafen everyone, so just hand me your gun and we can continue on our way, if I have to, I will forcefully eject you from this taxi," I said, cocking the revolver. He cursed. I pressed my gun against his head a bit harder. "Hand me the gun, or I'll pull the trigger," I said again. He reluctantly handed me the gun. I stuffed it in my pocket. "Now I'm sure everyone would prefer if you pay the taxi driver his money and get out," I told him. He handed the taxi driver some money and got out of the car. I holstered my revolver and relaxed. The woman continued trying to seduce me. I sighed and shapeshifted into a black house cat, curling up in Vanilla's lap. "What just happened..." The taxi driver asked. "Don't question it, I don't know how or why he can shapeshift, but he can," Vanilla said. I pressed my head into her hand and she began to pet me while I curled up in her lap. We arrived at the hospital and I shapeshifted back to my normal form, handing the taxi driver his money. "No need to pay me, it's on the house. Oh, and I hope your wife feels better." The taxi driver said as I gently picked up Vanilla. I gently carried her to the room to be examined. It was determined that she was fine, but to call back if anything happened. I called another taxi and this time there was no-one else in the taxi other than us and the driver. Vanilla fell asleep and I gently stroked her head. We arrived at the shop and I handed the cab driver his money and gently picked up Vanilla and carried her to our room. I set her down on the bed and lay down next to her, gently stroking her head. She woke up and cuddled up closer to me, purring softly. I kissed her and continued to pet her. A few hours later I made dinner and then we went back to bed.
