We returned to the shop and I was bored so I bought another American motorcycle like mine and painted it black with crimson flames like Raven's other cars. I tossed Raven the keys. After lunch, Raven and I went to a gun range to see how well she could shoot my .44 revolver. She did great, so I grabbed one of my massive .50 Derringers and saw how well she could fire one. She was amazing and nailed the targets perfectly. We got her a gun license and I bought a pair of snub-nosed S&W .500s. One was registered to her and the other was registered to me. I had them custom painted by a particular company. As you would expect, mine was painted black with purple flames extending from the barrel back to about the middle part of the cylinder (The rotating part) and Raven's was done the same, but with crimson flames. "It's a bit of a downside that it only holds 5 shots, but for a pocket sized cannon that is a worthwhile trade-off," Raven said. I nodded. I tucked my gun in the inside pocket of my Rogue Speed jacket and Raven did the same with hers. All of a sudden I had a strange nagging in the back of my brain, "Shigure, danger, Shigure, danger," repeated in the back of my mind. I zipped up my jacket and ran to the Minaduki household. I saw Shigure running out the front door like a scared deer. (Oh yeah btw, this will be important later, with the passage of time in my story, about 5 years, and the assumption that Shigure is 11 during NEKOPARA, she's like 16 now.) "What happened, are you okay?" I asked. "There's someone, with a big gun, inside," She said, panting heavily. BANG! "Oh god no..." Shigure said as she collapsed. I rushed inside to see someone with a gun standing over Ms. Minaduki, she had a bullet wound in her chest. I drew my knife and sprinted toward him. I wedged my knife deep in his chest, all the way down to the hilt and he collapsed. Ms. Minaduki was dead, but so was her murderer. I stepped on the dead man's ribs and with some effort pulled my knife out of his chest. The police and a hearse came and cleaned them up while everyone else explained what happened. I cleaned the blood off of my knife and slid my knife back in its sheath. Shigure was crying profusely. The police explained to me, with both her parents dead, unless she were to live with her older brother, she couldn't stay at the house. "I could take her," I said, showing him all my tags. "Older than 18 (human years), has a bell," I heard the officer whisper to himself, along with a few other things. "Looks like you check out," He said. I signed a bunch of papers and they all left. A couple weeks later they buried Ms. Minaduki. After another couple weeks of mourning, most everything went back to normal, aside from the fact that I'd be living at the Minaduki household for a couple years. I grabbed a notepad and wrote Shigure a note for why she was out of school. As she walked out the door I shapeshifted into a crow and sat on her shoulder. Most of her school day wasn't very interesting, but during one of the classes there was an announcement, making mention of a suspicious individual on the premises and there was a bang on the door as if someone was trying to knock the door down. After a couple more hits I knew the door was going to give way. I hopped off Shigure's shoulder and shapeshifted back to my normal form. I leaned my weight against the door in an attempt to keep the door from breaking, or at the very least delaying it a bit further. Everyone else seemed shocked by my appearance after having just been a bird a moment ago. Despite my efforts, with a couple more hits the door gave way. I knocked the person to the ground and picked up a gun they dropped. "I'll take that thanks," I said. A police officer rushed over and I handed the officer the gun and he arrested the person I had pinned down. After everyone got over the astonishment one of the students said they recognized me. "Excuse me, sir, but might you be Blackfeather? One of the racers of Rogue Speed? Apologies if I'm wrong but you look a lot like him," One student asked. "Racing fan, eh? Yes I am," I said. "If it's fine with him if you want something signed pass it up and he can sign stuff while we continue the lesson," The teacher said. "I don't see a problem with it, after today, though, if you want something signed, come to an event," I said. The students made a small pile of mostly notebooks on a desk and I picked up the stack and sat down on a table in the back of the room and signed stuff while the teacher continued to teach the lesson. At the end of the period, everyone collected their notebooks and I continued to follow Shigure around for the rest of the school day. During music, Shigure's music teacher said something about one of the guitar's strings being broken so they couldn't do something they originally planned. "This one?" I asked, grabbing a guitar with a sticky-note on it. "Give me a couple minutes and I can fix it up," I said. "Are you sure?" The teacher asked. After about a minute I had the string replaced and I tuned the guitar. "Wow, you actually did it," The teacher said. They resumed what they were going to do while I sat off to the side, chatting with the music teacher. I continued to follow Shigure around. "I don't know why it took me so long to say this, but if you're going to follow me, at least help me carry my stuff so you aren't just some extremely shady looking guy following me around," Shigure said. I carried some of her stuff and we walked into an art room. I sat off in one corner of the room and borrowed a pencil and some paper and decided to draw Vanilla. I finished and blushed slightly, and tucked it in my pocket. I returned the pencil and I heard the bell ring. Shigure packed up all her stuff and we left. Shigure and I got home (The Minaduki household. Qrow has to live there for a couple years until Shigure turns 18 and can live alone in her house.) and I told Shigure I'd be out for a couple minutes but I'd be back quickly. I drove to an arts and crafts shop and bought an expensive set of high-quality colored pencils and some other art supplies. I got back to the house and sat down at a desk in one corner of my room which used to be Chocola and Vanilla's room before they went to live with Kashou at the shop. I pulled the drawing back out and set it on the desk. I pulled out a pencil and continued adding details to the drawing. I grabbed my new colored pencils and started to color the drawing. I finished and grabbed a clear plastic paper protector (or whatever you call them) and slid it inside. I headed over to the shop and talked with Vanilla for a bit about coming to live at the Minaduki household with me. "I would but I don't want Chocola to feel lonely," Vanilla said. "Don't worry Vanilla, Chocola'll be fine," Chocola said. "I guess I can then, it would be nice to visit again," Vanilla said. I grabbed my gun case and Vanilla and I walked back to the house. I set my gun case down in the bedroom and slid it under the bed. I went over to the desk and pulled out the drawing. "Hey Vanilla, while I was out with Shigure earlier today I drew this and I thought I should show it to you," I said slightly nervously. "I've never seen you this nervous before," Vanilla said. Vanilla looked at it and her face turned bright red. "I started out with a normal drawing of you in mind, but the end product was..." I trailed off. "It's quite nice," Vanilla said. "Thank you, it took quite a while to draw," I replied. I kissed Vanilla and then she tucked it in a drawer. The next day after breakfast, Maple walked up to me and showed me something on her phone. It was essentially a daily newspaper. I scrolled through it and one section talked about recent changes to laws concerning humanoid cats. I scrolled through it and Maple pointed out a particular section. It talked about new laws concerning humanoid cats and marriage. It made mention of several things, but most prominently, it allowed room for polygamy, but if you marry one of them, while you can still have multiple, you're most dedicated to the one you married. Vanilla sat down and read it as well. Vanilla looked at Maple with a very suspicious expression. Maple turned a couple shades paler as she seemed to realize what Vanilla was thinking. Maple and Vanilla whispered to each other for a moment and Maple sat down next to me. "I never had the courage to say this before, but it seems Vanilla figured it out and you're going to find out one way or another now, so I might as well say it myself. All those years back when you first started working at the shop, you caught my attention, but I had decided to stay back and figure you out first, sadly, it seemed that took too long and you ended up with Vanilla faster than I could find a way through your gray outward personality to figure out your true personality, but I figured it out and I realized you were a guy that I should've spoken to, but by that time, it was far too late. Anyway, I'm losing track of what I was trying to say. I like you and I would've told you sooner but by the time I was ready, it was too late, so I'm telling you this now before the opportunity slips away again." Maple said. She sighed. "What I'm trying to say, is that I fell for you, but I need to know, do you feel the same?" Maple asked. I gently placed my hands on her shoulders and pulled her closer, giving her a kiss. Vanilla walked up to me with a grin. "I won't forget about you, you always have, and always will be my number one," I said, picking her up and giving her a kiss. After Shigure went to school, Vanilla, Maple, and I went out for a walk. We came across an auction. "How 'bout we stay a while, see what they've got," I said. "Sure, they've probably got at least a couple interesting items," Maple said. Vanilla nodded as well. We sat down and stayed a while. They were mostly selling cabinetry and other random odds and ends. I was starting to get bored when an item caught my attention. "5 set antique Colt 1851 Navy Revolvers, engraved, both original .36 gold six round cylinder and .38 rim/centerfire six round gold cylinder, along with the orginal wooden cases for each! All in pristine condition!" The auctioneer said. "Oh, I have to win that auction," I said. "I know you love guns, but why spend so much on them?" Maple asked. "Oh you'll see," I said. I was there for an hour until I finally outbid everyone and won the auction. The auctioneer handed me the cases and I pulled a drawstring bag out of one of my pockets and put the cases inside, then pulled the bag onto my shoulders.
(By the way, for anyone who doesn't know, .38 and 9mm are essentially the same, just the casing is longer. Also, link to a picture of the gun.) http://www.riverjunction.com/thumbnail.asp?file=assets/images/productimages/oneofakinds/guns/51navy/51navy1.jpg&maxx=300&maxy=0
We continued walking for a while and then returned back to the house. "Oh, hey Maple, do you carry a gun? You seem like the kind who'd at least carry a .22 or a pocket knife or something in case something happened," I said. She pulled out her purse and unzipped a pocket on the outside of it, pulling out a small case with a Taurus PT22. (Really, REALLY, small gun.) "So you can fire a gun, good," I said. I brought her and Vanilla to a shooting range and grabbed a single action .357 revolver and handed it to Maple. She fired a few times, then set down the gun, stepping off to the side. "Good," I said. "I would like to try," Vanilla said. I reloaded the .357 and Vanilla stepped up. I handed it to her and she fired it a few times. "Well done," I said, looking at the target. She set the revolver down and stepped off to the side. We went back to the house and sat down on the couch. I pulled the drawstring bag off my back. I set all five of the wooden boxes onto the table in front of us. "You wanted to see what I spent so much money on, take a look," I said, opening one of the boxes. Maple stared in awe. I carefully took it out of the box, along with a .38 cylinder. (Oh, I forgot to mention all five of the six round .38 cylinders came in a separate box.) I removed the original .36 cylinder and set the cylinder in the separate box with the .36. I took the .38 cylinder and began to clean, oil, and polish the gun and the cylinder. I finished and inserted the .38 cylinder into the gun. I repeated the process for three more, then left the fifth alone. I had registered them earlier and had one of them registered as Maple's, and Vanilla inherited Maple's Taurus PT22 since we got her a gun license as well. Vanilla said she would also like one of them, so we got one registered as Vanilla's too. I took three of them and tied a ribbon around the boxes. I handed one to Maple, and one to Vanilla, setting the third one off to the side, along with mine, and the one I would keep exactly the way it was. After dinner I went to bed with Vanilla and slept soundly.
