Chapter 108, Book 2. ...The Fire Started.

After enjoying a nice night out, Royal and Evelyn started to make their way back to the Patisserie. Along the way, a fire truck blew past them. Royal didn't really pay much attention to it, but they soon found out why it was in such a hurry.

Kashou, Ox, Chocola, Vanilla, Coconut, Maple, Cinnamon, and Milk stood outside the patisserie, watching and crying as the Patisserie burned...

Once Coconut spotted Royal pulling up, she ran over to the side of the car.

"Royal, Onee-chan's trapped on the second floor!" She said.

Evelyn and Royal ran over to the Patisserie, Evelyn remembering some of what her brother told her about how to analyse a fire like this. From what she could see, the entire first floor was engulfed in flames, but from the look of the windows, the second floor was just starting to burn. That was when she spotted it.

"Royal! The balcony. I'll boost you up. Grab the ledge and pull yourself up. It's gonna be really fucking hot. Try not to breathe the smoke and move quickly if you want to get her out." Evelyn said.

Royal nodded and the two of them getting below the balcony. Evelyn knelt down so Royal could step onto her shoulders, then slowly stood up so Royal could grab the balcony ledge or railing and pull himself up.

He was heavy, but Evelyn had managed to lift much worse before. Without too much hassle, Royal made it up onto the balcony and into the second floor. It was smoky, but by crouching down far enough he could avoid breathing in too much of it.

He searched for Azuki and found her when he almost tripped over her, unconscious on the floor. Once Royal spotted her, he gently scooped her up and booked it out to the balcony, dropping Azuki down to Evelyn.

Evelyn deftly caught Azuki, handing her off to a paramedic who rushed Azuki to a hospital.

Royal then hopped down from the balcony and they all stood clear of the flames.

There was nothing they could do but watch as the firefighters tried to put it out.

As they watched, Acheron ran over, panting like he'd just run a marathon as he tried to speak up.

"Royal... I, huf... I saw who started the fire... I'd recognize their goddamn colors anywhere... Red and black with white stripes. It was the Stacked Decks." He said.

"DAAAARIIIIUUUUUUSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!" Royal shouted so loud it startled all the catgirls but Evelyn.

Royal was fucking boiling with rage. A million thoughts flew through his mind, but right now he was helpless to do anything about it. Just as Royal felt like he was about to explode, Evelyn hugged him gently from behind... It was surprisingly comforting as she gently stroked his hair.

Royal clenched his teeth for a moment to keep from crying, then turned around to face Evelyn, closing his eyes and resting his face on her chest, letting her stroke his hair as the rage and sadness seeped out of his body.

After comforting Royal for a while, Evelyn walked over to Kashou, gently putting a hand on his shoulder. "So... Any idea where you guys are going to stay?" Evelyn asked, making sure Kashou was okay as well.

"The catgirls and I are always welcome home, but I don't know about Royal or Milk... Or Ox..." Kashou said.

"You guys can stay with me. My mansion gets pretty lonely... Evelyn, you're welcome to stay too. As are Qrow and Hana, if they're interested." Acheron replied, smiling softly.

"Know what? Get the whole crew, y'all are piling in my mansion for a while. Lord knows it could do with being lived in for once. Hop in your cars and come to this address." He added, scrawling the address on a slip of paper.

"I mean... We can't really say no." Kashou commented, speaking to Royal.

"Well, guess we'll see you there." Royal replied.

Acheron smiled before heading off to his GT and driving away.

Royal took one last look at the burnt-out Patisserie, sighing heavily before going to the garage, where everyone got into their thankfully still intact cars.

Evelyn and Royal went back to Qrow and Hana's place, so Evelyn could tell them about the news and the invitation, while Royal got his Supra from the garage.

Evelyn headed inside, seeing Hana half asleep in Qrow's arms.

"Welcome home, Evelyn." Qrow said sleepily.

Evelyn nodded in acknowledgement. "I've got some good and bad news..."

"Oh god Evelyn what trouble have you gotten into this time?" Qrow said with a sigh. "Give us the bad news first, I suppose."

"La Soleil burned down." Evelyn replied.

"Oh no! Is everyone alright?" Hana asked, sitting up and trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes.

"Azuki is in the hospital for smoke inhalation, but everyone else is okay. As for the good news, after the fire, Acheron invited everyone to stay at his mansion while they gather funds to rebuild the Patisserie. That includes Qrow since he is a part of Rogue Speed, and by extension you and I." Evelyn replied.

"How kind of him. Such a nice young man. I'd be happy to stay for a while if he wants us to. What about you, Honey?" Hana asked Qrow.

"Sure. They'll probably need me there anyway, seeing as all the other members of Rogue Speed will be there." Qrow said.

"Do you know how long we'll be staying?" Hana asked

"Considering the situation, it might be a while. There's a lot going on right now, with all that's happened lately." Evelyn replied.

"Alright. You get some sleep, hun, I'll pack everything we need." Qrow said, giving Hana a kiss before putting his arms under her, carrying her bridal style to bed.

Evelyn nodded to herself and went to her room to pack her things as well, Qrow and Evelyn working through the night to the early hours of the morning getting everything packed for tomorrow...
