(Vanilla's perspective.)
Qrow had lay down on the floor to take a nap so he could stretch out, and he lay there for a few minutes, when I decided to grab him a blanket. I went into our room to grab the blanket from our bed, and I walked back out. In Qrow's place was a huge black panther, sleeping on the floor of the living room. It was missing the lower part of it's left back leg, it's left eye was missing, and the lower part of it's front right leg was made of metal, no doors or windows were open, so it can't have gotten in, and there was no blood, so it certainly didn't eat Qrow. I went downstairs and got Kashou. "I need to show you something." I said. He followed me upstairs. "Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing the huge black panther." I said. Kahou's jaw dropped. "You're not the only one who sees it." He said. I walked a bit closer to it. Qrow's prosthetic leg and eye patch were laying on the floor. I took a deep breath, and gathered myself. I managed to walk closer. I got a better look at it, and rather than Qrow's dog tag chain, it had a large chain (As in an actual chain, the good sturdy kind) around it's neck, with some large tags on it, and a ring of keys. I gathered myself a bit more, and gently nudged it, trying to wake it up. It got up, and yawned as it stretched. It tried to stand up, and fell over. It stood up again, presumably adjusting which legs it rested it's weight on. It awkwardly turned toward me, and pushed it's head up against me, knocking me over. It started nuzzling me, like a house cat would, and then curled up next to me. "Qrow...?" I said. It nodded, an exaggerated gesture. Did he even know he was a panther? "Do you realize you're a black panther right now?" I said to it. It looked around confusedly, it must have realized, because it jumped back, surprised, or scared, and there was a light, and it disappeared, and Qrow fell out of the light. "Do you know what happened?" I asked Qrow. "Kind of. I remember you nudging me awake nervously, and you started talking to me. I remember looking down and seeing paws instead of hands, and just now hitting the floor." He said. I handed him his eye patch. He pulled it back on. Kashou walked over, amazed. "Can you try to turn back into a panther?" I asked. "I can try..." he said. He strapped his prosthetic leg back on, and closed his eyes, focusing, and jumped into the air. There was a bright light, and the black panther from before came out. Qrow's prosthetic leg and eye patch fell down as well. "It worked!" I said, excited. He jumped into the air again, and transformed back. "That's pretty cool." He said. "Can you try other animals? Like a giant, or normal sized crow?" I asked. "Ha ha very funny... I can try." He said. He jumped into the air, and a giant crow appeared. The lower portion of it's right leg was made of metal, but it still had both it's wings, and both eyes. It jumped into the air, and a similar crow popped out, this one was the same as the giant one, but more of a natural size. It jumped into the air, and Qrow fell out. "That, was awesome." he said. "Only one problem, If I'm going to be walking around like that, or shape shifting to aid in my abilities to fight off attackers, I think you need a license, unless of course the government can define me in that form as still a person, rather than an animal." He added.
(Qrow's perspective.)
After the new discovery of my ability to shape shift, I got to talk with a government official, and it was decided, no matter what form I was in, I was still a person, and I still pertained my ability to use logic and reasoning and understand, and to a degree, respond to human speech. I then got in contact with the military engineer that designed my metal arm, and I got him to design it exactly the same way he did my arm, but for my leg. He came over, and brought a doctor with him. He used a numbing agent on my leg (like the stuff the dentist uses a syringe to get into your face before fixing cavities. The stuff that paralyzes half your face, and causes your cheek to puff up.) He performed the surgery to replace my stub with the flat metal part like the thing my metal arm attached to, and a few days later the engineer finished the leg. I attached it, and moved around. "Seems good so far..." I said. "Now let's see if this will work." I mumbled to myself. I jumped into the air, and popped out as a black panther. It worked, the metal leg morphed along with me. I shape shifted back, and thanked the engineer and the doctor. The government official I talked to a few days later called me back. I picked up the phone. "Hello Qrow I forgot to mention one thing when I made my verdict. You ARE still classified as a person, but we need a way to identify it's you. If you can meet me in a few hours, there's a tag-like thing, that goes on your ear. It shouldn't hurt too bad going on." He said. "Okay then, I'll meet you there." I said, and hung up. (By tag thing, I mean he'll have something similar to the things cows, or other animals get to identify them, of course it won't be yellow, it will be silver, and made of an extra light metal.) A few hours later I met him there, and I followed him inside. The person told me to get up on the table. I got up on it, and shape shifted, laying my head on my paws. I watched them stick the tag on my ear, and it was done. I shape shifted back, and it went from a tag on my ear to an addition to my collar, and I could presume it would turn back into the tag on my ear when I shape shifted. I walked back home, and went inside. "Hello, I'm back." I said. Vanilla was excited. I tossed Vanilla one of my leather gloves, and she put it on as I shape shifted into a normal sized crow, and landed on her hand. "I've never seen an actual crow. What do they sound like?" She asked. "They don't sound nice, do you still want to hear what they sound like?" Kashou said. "I would like to hear anyway." Vanilla said. I made a cawing sound. "They sound like something you'd find in a collapsed abandoned church or other reclusive building, pecking something." Vanilla said. I shape shifted back into my normal form. "They are essentially prettier versions of a vulture. So that's a pretty spot on description of where you'd find them. That and war zones, pecking corpses." I said. "Ew." She replied. "Hey at least they're prettier than vultures, those things are ugly." I said, showing her a picture of a vulture. "Now THAT, is an ugly bird." She said. We decided to all go for a walk around town, and when I got outside I shape shifted into a black panther. While we were walking a small kid, about the age of ten, and his mom walked over. They asked how Kashou and Vanilla came about acquiring a black panther, especially such a torn up one. The child asked if he could pet me. Vanilla looked at me and asked if I was okay with it. I nodded. "Wait can it understand Japanese?" The child's mom asked. I nodded again. "Okay then, they said it was fine, so you can pet it." The child's mom said. I lay down so he could reach my head. He gently scratched my head. After that they went back to what they were doing and we continued our walk. Vanilla stuck her hands into the muff I made for her, and I shape shifted into a normal sized crow and perched on her shoulder. We continued on our walk, and we passed by the blacksmith's shop. I fluttered from Vanilla's shoulder and flew into his shop. He swatted at me. I flew over to a corner of the room and shape shifted into my normal form. "Hey that's no way to treat a friend." I said. "Wait what?" He said. "I was that crow. Don't laugh. I discovered I have some sort of shape shifting powers. You might not believe me, but I can show you." I said. "Then do it." He said. I shape shifted into a crow again. "Oh my god you really can." He said. I shape shifted back into my normal form. "Well, see you later." I said, shape shifting into a black panther. I walked back over to Vanilla, and we continued on our walk. We got back home and Vanilla and Chocola were kind of tired. I could go for a nap too. I stretched out on the floor, still a panther, and Chocola and Vanilla lay down on the floor resting their heads on me. I rested my head on my paws and fell asleep. About an hour later I woke up, and stretched, then shape shifted back to my normal form, and started making dinner. After dinner I went to bed with Vanilla. The next day I went shopping and got a new pair of boots, and several new pairs of jeans, these ones had zippers just above the knee so the pant legs could be detached and they could also be worn as shorts. I returned home and changed into one of the new pairs of jeans, retiring all my old ones to the basket of scrap clothing materials for things like sewing. I stretched, and sat down on the couch. Vanilla sat down in my lap and watched television while I read a book.
