(about a week after chapter 56) I was very, very, bored and for some reason felt like trying out teaching a class. After all, I did have a master's degree in teaching just about anything and everything. Shigure's school was looking for a substitute teacher for music and during one period that there wasn't a music class they needed an English teacher. (Since they live in Japan it would be something akin to a foreign language class for them.) I decided to substitute for both of the classes. I grabbed my guitar off its stand and put it in a case, folding up the stand and putting both the case and the stand in the trunk of my car. I grabbed a hair tie and brought my hair back into a two strand braid, then put on a suit, consisting of a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up just above my elbows, dark gray dress pants with vertical light gray stripes, a dark gray tie, and a dark gray vest, also with vertical light gray stripes. I polished my boots a bit so I could still wear them, and grabbed my saber-like dagger and tucked it in a pocket on the inside of my vest, along with one of my extremely fancy and very flashy 1851 Colt Navy revolver inside its wooden case in the other inside pocket. I grabbed a cigarette case I had even though I smoked cigars, and filled it with .38 rounds and tucked it in another inside pocket. (The ultimate concealed carry suit.) I put a fancy platinum wristwatch around my left wrist, then drove to the school and went into the music room. I set up my guitar's stand and put the guitar on in and flipped through the teacher's lesson plan while I waited for the school day to start. I flipped through a newspaper. Apparently, there were a lot of threats against schools recently, though the schools were trying their best to stay open. Luckily I always carry a gun or other form of weapon on me at all times. The school day was about to start, so I grabbed a dry erase marker and wrote my last name on the board then sat down. I heard a bell and several students started coming in the classroom. I introduced myself and started teaching the class. In between classes, I needed to go and make copies of a paper and while I was walking, there was a female student seemingly in a hurry to get somewhere when she tripped and nearly fell down some stairs. Luckily I caught her before she fell, after all, if she were to actually have fallen down the cement stairs she surely would've broken her neck on the way down, but all her stuff went tumbling down the steps, going everywhere upon reaching the bottom. "Oh no..." She said, speaking softly as she became disheartened. "My stuff... It's going to take forever to clean it up and get it in order again and I can't be late for class..." She said. "I'll help you, don't worry," I said. I took a picture of all her stuff all over the place just in case her teacher wanted proof of what happened, then I helped her pick up the stuff and we spent a few minutes sorting the stuff. I pulled out the phone provided by the school that allowed me to remotely access the board. (Something akin to a smart board.) I left a message telling my class I'd be late, but I would be back in a few minutes and saying they could work on stuff for another class while they waited. After about 10 minutes we got her stuff sorted and I escorted her to her classroom, explaining to her teacher what happened. The student thanked me and I got the papers I needed copied and headed back to the music room. To my surprise the students were actually quietly doing work, I was expecting at least a couple people talking or something. I began teaching and it went perfectly. When the class ended I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down a nice note for when the teacher got back to teaching, saying how wonderful the class was. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and read the text. The music teacher sent me a text saying she would end up being out for a week and asking if I could continue to substitute for her. I told her I would gladly do so for as long as necessary. I slid my phone back in my pocket and put my guitar back in its case, locking it. I went to the English room and read the teacher's lesson plan. They were just doing presentations on particular parts of America and Britain. I wrote down a grade for the three students that presented and everyone relaxed or worked on other stuff for the last few minutes of class. I drove home with Shigure and while I was driving we chatted for a while. "You were an excellent teacher, perhaps you could retire from your bodyguarding job some day, and if you don't want to retire entirely you could make a great teacher," Shigure said. "Thank you, although I don't wish to retire anytime soon, I will gladly substitute for teachers whenever your school needs," I said. We arrived back at the house and I talked with Vanilla about the day and told her how wonderful it was. "Would it be possible for me to come with you?" Vanilla asked. "I can ask, as long as you don't distract the students I don't see why not," I said. I asked the principal of the school and he said it was fine. "Do I have to wear a dress or a suit?" Vanilla asked. "You don't have to, your normal outfit should be fine," I said. Vanilla smiled. The next day Vanilla and I went to the school and Vanilla sat down in a seat off to the side by the teacher's desk and listened intently while I taught each class. During one class, there was an announcement making mention of a suspicious individual on the premises. "You know the drill," I said to the students. "Trouble just follows you around doesn't it?" Vanilla said. The teacher's desk was off in the corner up against the wall with the door to the classroom in it so Vanilla was fine where she was sitting. I locked the door and knelt by it. There was a gunshot and it went straight through the door. I reached into my vest and pulled out my 1851 Colt Navy revolver and my cigarette case full of ammunition. I loaded the revolver and tucked the cigarette case back inside my vest. I gestured for the students to stay quiet and cover their ears. There was another gunshot and the door seemed less stable. I realized what the person was doing, they were going to shoot the hinges off. Bang! Another gunshot sounded and the door fell down. I pulled out my saber-like dagger and knocked over the attacker, holding him at knifepoint until the police could come and arrest him. He was arrested and I slid the sheath back on the dagger and tucked it in the inside of my vest. I continued teaching for a bit and the bell went off. The students left the room and went to lunch. I pulled out a couple bento boxes and handed one to Vanilla and we relaxed while we ate lunch. "That was interesting," Vanilla said. "Trust me, that doesn't happen every day," I said. I gently stroked Vanilla's head and she purred softly. I smiled and she sat in my lap and nuzzled up against my chest. After lunch ended Vanilla slid off me and I continued to teach my classes and went home.
